Im 36 weeks pregnant and baby seems to very much enjoy squashing everything in his way, making me feel like a fire breathing dragon!
Any tips how to ease it? Im having Gaviscon but not too sure what else i can try?

there's not a lot you can do from what i remember. it is just lack of room for your stomach that tends to cause this.
eating smaller meals will help but i'm guessing you can only eat small meals at this stage anyway, i know i only could. |

i did. i think most people probably do because there just isn't much room for everything inside of you when the baby is putting on most of it's weight in the last 4 weeks. it should go after the baby is born but that's not much help to you now really. |

I feel for you, I also suffered terribly in pregnancy. Keep drinking the nasty Gaviscon it will be worth it with the end result. Cx |

Have an extra pillow to prop you up at night. Cut down on caffeine and avoid fatty/spicy foods. If the pain radiates through to your back or shoulder talk to a Dr as being pregnant can irritate your gallbladder and they can prescribe something to help.
Good luck xxx |

yeah it's worth it eventually. and 2 weeks isn't that long now.
some foods might trigger it as well? but for me, at the late stage, everything seemed to. |

My wife suffered terribly with this for all 4 of her pregnancies.....was swigging Gaviscon straight from the bottle.
Sleeping a bit sat up....use plenty of pillows...can help a bit.
Otherwise....just wait till baby appears....it stopped straight away.
Good luck xx |

I agree. Non of the teas, yogurt etc touched the discomfort for me. I used to carry the big bottle for handy swigging in my handbag and it sounded like a bottle of gin.
I dutifully removed it for an emergency hospital over night stay before the eldest was born (hospitals only Letting you have what they have prescribed). I felt grim and asked for some gaviscon..
I had to waiting hour to get it prescribed , then further delays...then I was handed 5ml. A large swig was not offered..I looked at it like a single him n tonic
The Gaviscon promotly found a place in hospital bag.
Good luck and hugs on journey.. just rest up whenever you can.
What, no mention of bump getting in way for comfortable sleep?? |

Bicarbonate of soda (just a teaspoon) mixed with half a small glass of milk is really good, tastes vile though! Ask your doctor or midwife if you can have ranitidine. They're really good and last 24 hours. |

Retired Midwife here.
Don't take anything until you've discussed it with a pharmacist, Midwife or doctor first. There are other drugs you can take but also reduce the carbs in your diet, especially the sugary ones, these are notorious for causing heartburn and reflux.
The old advice on avoiding spicy foods (just makes the result of the heartburn worse, doesn't reduce getting it) and drinking milk/eating yoghurt (thought to reduce the effect of heartburn but doesn't reduce the incidence) is more or less useless for most people.
It will soon be over |

I took rantidine, as I have G.O.R.D, and have to take them daily anyway. They didn't help towards the end though, if I'm honest. Nothing did. But they may help you, if you don't have another medical condition that gives you constant heartburn. Speak to your midwife if in doubt. But my GP told me that ranitidine was perfectly safe to take during my pregnancy . |

I have had 3 pregnancies and the only thing that worked was Milk. Avoid anything acid or citrus at night as that seems to make it worse.
Caution with over the counter remedies re harming baby.Good luck with everything. x |
