Embarrassing itch lol
Jump to: Newest in thread
So I guess this is pretty random but I'm wondering if anyone has some sensible advise they could give! Over the past few weeks I'v had an unbearable itch around the anus, it's very persistant and can sometimes be sore! Wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms before and how they treated it! |

"Thankyou for all your responses!
I'm just embarrassed about going to the gp but it looks like I may have no choice!
Hopefully someone has experienced this b4 "
your gp sees things like this daily, possibly hourly. Dont be embarrased they wont be. |

"Possibly, I did try anal when I met a couple a while ago, why would that make a difference?"
Well if it was uncomfortable or forced at all it could more than likely be piles. These can be internal or external but easily treated |

"Yes it was protected! Always play safe
Also been getting a few spots on my buttocks cheeks which is annoying me "
I get those from wearing tights. You been wearing tights too?
Try the cream like anusol or something for a few days and if you get no relief pop to see your GP |

the spots are easy to sort out. Exfoliate weekly and use a decent moisturiser "
That's arse measles |

Could be piles, I get them from anal. Doc sees it all the time as someone else said. You don't need to try cream for a week though, just go and get them to diagnose.
It could also be anal thrush. My ex used to get this from having a sweaty arse crack! So it's best to get the doc to diagnose and prescribe as appropriate

"Don't think it's warts
Its mainly red sore skin around the anus opening "
Well. I'm not a doctor or a nurse so I will just repeat what I said above. Go and see your gp if cream or suppositories for piles don't clear it up. At the very least they will ease it, it must be quite unpleasant for you not to mention painful.
Also if you're constipated drink plenty of water and eat fruit to ease that. |

Could be thrush. Could also be piles. You can get creams for both over the counter, or on eBay if you must.
A trip to the GUM clinic should not be embarrassing, they've seen it all.
I have caused anal irritation by wiping with toilet paper that is more rough than we have at home. |

Most likely Jock itch. A mild fungal infection and easily treatable, certainly not something to be embarrassed about going to the doctors for but an over the counter antifungal cream will do the trick. |

The cream for this is called Canestan but be aware it comes in two strengths 0.5% and 1% I think - I sometimes get this itch after cycling and have found the stronger cream clears it in a few days - the lower dose one however is not so effective. However, as others have said it could be a range of other issues so really a good idea to go to the GP - after all that is what they are there for. |

"Wow there's been a hell of alot of responses! Thank you!
Iv decidedone I'm going to see my gp when I get a chance
Is there any Dr's or nurses on here that could give their opinion? "
If you want an opinion but don't want to go to the GP, for whatever reason, phone NHS 24 - they are staffed by qualified nurses and will give you appropriate advice - although it might be - go to your GP. |

I'd speak to a pharmacist, who will be able to give you some simple advice - some of it like the posters here have. They'll be able to ask you for some symptom details too. Obviously you'll pay for over the counter treatments but not at prescription price.
I'd encourage you not to take excessively hot baths, as this could irritate the external skin.
As others say, GPs and Nurses see this sort of thing every week - as pharmacists do too, hence them selling treatments. |

Glad you're sorted.
I had a similar thing fixed the same way. It was caused by cleaning myself too enthusiastically, they said |
