Hi, not sure if anyone can advise us? Looking at going to bghs during the week. We understand that singles etc are welcome during the times we would be going but our question is this.... is it all just single guys there during the week or is there girls and couples there too? Thanks. X |

From whenever we've been there during the week it's been predominantly single guys with the odd couple from time to time. Only once in a handful of weekday visits have we seen a single female - and on that occasion there were two of them.
Lovely place though. Even if you don't get to play with anyone else. |

I think there used to be more couples on weekdays, now you get 1 or 2 with about 15 single men. A couple of years ago and further back it would typically be 4 or 5 couples. It's never attracted many single women. I'd like to see them trial a women only night maybe once a month for a bit just to see if this improves the numbers of women willing to try it out, and from there they might decide it would be fine to go when mixed too. But BGHS never changes its style or ways, and never will until ownership changes. |

There are occasionally single women during the week but, more often than not, they're there for the facilities not the men.
The system isn't broken so why would the management need to change it? It's a naturist spa not a sex club. Plenty of people are happy to go regularly to relax and enjoy the facilities without any hassle from the single men. Then you have the option to play upstairs in the play rooms as well. |

hmmm and how will we know its you in the hot tub as you don't have a photo?? lol.
The balance of women to men needs to change - and I don't mean because it would be great to see more women in the rest rooms. As you say, many people just go for the facilities but when its all men there, there is often quite a seedy, uncomfortable atmosphere as you know at least half of them are there purely for titillation and are frustrated when there is none. When there is a better mix I find the atmosphere is more fun and light hearted (in the wet areas and lounge).
When I visited Zuiver in Amsterdam, it was 60-70% female and with over 200 people there that's a huge number! But no play or seediness there, its purely a naturist spa. It was just great to see a culture where women didn't feel like they couldn't visit such a place which I think is the case here because attitudes are different.

I'm a regular at BGHS and love the place.
I often go in the week after work with a girlfriend to relax in the spa - we don't go for the men and don't go upstairs to the 'rest area' at all. Haven't really had too much trouble with single guys when I'm there with my female friend, I guess having two of us together helps.
I've also been a number of times with a partner, but for me the vibe at bghs just isn't sexy in the week as the management have removed the locks from a lot of the playrooms (including the lovely mirror room!) which means you get jar reassess by single guys non stop if you are playing. I also found on my last visit that the light in one of the few decent sized playrooms that still locks was way too bright - the rooms are supposed to be relaxing and dim, not a 60 watt lightbulb blaring out! I needed sunglasses! I far prefer the sexy environment of a proper swingers club if I am with a guy, and save bghs for a relaxing spa.
I woUld love to see a ladies only session at bghs but this isn't something the management are interested in considering as I believe it has been tried before. |

Are you saying there aren't many lockable rooms there?
We were thinking about going next Friday or Saturday but having loads of single guys trying to get in the room if we're playing with somebody would put us off to be honest. |

I would recommend a Saturday or Sunday night if you are going as a couple, as there are no single men at those times
They removed the locks from a number of the rest rooms a while back, in an attempt to stop single men from loitering in the hallway. However, a proportion of the single guys take the unlocked door as an invitation to crash in and start wanking furiously. The only rooms that are lockable are either very small or have a ridiculously bright light in not sexy or relaxing!
It's a real shame as I think removing the locks has actually given the wrong message to the loitering single guys - they see it as a free-for-all guaranteed sex show as they can crash into the room whether you want them there or not. |

We tried week days but got fed up with the cougar dance as soon as we got to the rest rooms, the creaking floor outside as they all congregate outside our room, even knocking the door, then the sighing and muttering because ( even though we were going to but they annoyed us),we didn't ask any of them in.
We stick to weekends now unless for someone special, like Brightonsteve for example.

"When there is a better mix I find the atmosphere is more fun and light hearted (in the wet areas and lounge)."
This post hit the nail on the head re. how the man/woman ratio affects the mood at BGHS. I've mostly been on weekdays and having even one other woman there equalises the situation. On one particular visit I had the misfortune of being the only woman for a stretch of hours... IME the men that are there just to creep are the minority but on that occasion I attracted aaaaall of those, they followed me and my lover about (I didn't mind so much but he found it intolerable) and even had someone brush against my butt as they were going past me outside the sauna!
Much though I would have liked a women-only evening, I seriously doubt it would ever be commercially viable. Judging from myself, even though I'd be eager to attend I know I'd have 1/4 chances of being on my period on any given date, and that's before I check against the rest of my schedule. |

I think the rationale for the removing of the lock was also to prevent some couples taking over a room all night. There had been lots of requests for their removal.
Regarding any person not taking no for an answer, constantly following or touching, speak to the staff. We have had that happen and the person had a flea put in their ear and were left in no doubt of what would happen if they did it again by the manager. |

I think one option would be to extend the couples only evenings to include single women as well - this gives women a chance to try the spa out at a time where they won't get any problems and its a really good atmosphere. I know they have this thing about an equal mix but I doubt anyone would mind if there were more women than men present - but that might have the undertones of a swingers party and of course it isn't a swingers venue (honest guv) |

I think the answer is for places like this, and Rio's, to decide what they want to be.
I've been to naturist places in Europe where no sex is the rule and they're great!
I've been to Rio's a few times and it was fun but to call it a naturist place isn't strictly accurate, there's sex going on.
The two things aren't really compatible and you're never going to get single women in any number to a sex joint, they'd be mad to go! Even the description above of visiting as a couple and the hassle with the blokes oustide the room, horrible. |

Bghs knows exactly what it is, its been there long enough. The problem isn't with the place or the people who own it. The problem is with some of the people that attend it. I cant speak for Rios as I have never been but I have been going to Bghs for over ten years and have never had a problem. Its quite simple just read the rules, respect the rules and all will be good with the world |

And everyone is entitled to there view. Whilst I have no idea as to why you hate Bghs, and to be honest I don't want to know, I do understand as there are one or two clubs that I cant stand either but we shall mention no names as it upsets people |

I think the problem is once you're in a room, settled and ready for 'action' as it were, the last thing you want to have to do is get up, go back out, downstairs, report someone to the staff, wait for them to be dealt with, then reassemble. It isn't exactly conducive to having a good time! So while it's easy for everyone (including bghs) to say just let a member of staff know about any problems, that isn't always a realistic option. Another thing they could do would be lock the rest rooms on selected weekdays so the option of playing isn't there - this might attract more pure naturists and women who will go knowing it is just for the facilities and nothing else is even possible. The pervs will no doubt stick to the days when the rooms are still available. TBH they get such little use anyway most of the time this wouldn't be a bad thing to at least try. |

I guess it depends on what you consider a problem? Yes if everyone stuck to the rules it'd be golden, but people don't. I have had some comic-tragic encounters in BGHS... Like the time when a bunch of dudes were standing in the corridor having a LOUD CHAT about home improvement/commercial building, I kid you not, while others were banging on our locked door urging with "give it to her!"... Or the time that a bloke got confused about what was allowed where and started stroking himself at the top-level sun room, we were lying next to him so we all got a stern rebuke by the staff as they thought we were complicit.
Everybody may have an opinion and a half about what the business should do to improve their services but personally I am just pleased they are commercially viable so I can continue going. Despite the antics I love it there and the facilities are great. I actually love that the spa facilities are strictly no-sex, but sad that I am too afraid to hold my boyfriend's hand or give him a kiss for fear of getting scolded. |

This place should not even get a mention on this site. The owner is patently anti swinging and yet people go there and disguise their lifestyle interests.
Brighton deserves better and the owner deserves the wake up call that she surely has coming. |
