So it's the wife's birthday next week and she wants to celebrate in style with a few friends and a blindfold. Anyone recommend a hotel in the Sheffield area where a couple of men would be able to join us in our room without lots of questions at reception or me having to go down and get them from reception

Best bet - if you get the chance - is to check out a couple of hotels in person. Just go into the reception and check you can get through to the lifts without reporting to the desk and that the lifts don't require the use of a room key card to operate.

In general it's the cheaper hotels (Prem Inn / Travelodge) which are less likely to let your guests in.

Another tip - make sure your visitors know the layout of reception and where to go, so they don't look like they're lost! Eg (walk in, head to the left and the lifts are just past reception).

I've had plenty of hotel meets... Always extra-naughty!!! Have a great time.

I have been to so many hotels I have lost count. I have never once been stopped at reception and asked where I am going, who I am seeing or what I am doing there.

The Macdonald hotels are good if you want a little luxury. Don't know if there's one in Sheffield.

Sheffield

Yes there is a Macdonald hotel in Sheffield centre. But any big hotel you can walk straight by reception.

The Chevin Country Park Hotel & Spa (nearer Leeds than Sheffield) is ideal. The rooms are in lodges in the grounds.

We had a lovely date there a few months back. Google "Chevin Janet Reviews" for more info (sorry but not allowed to put a direct link on here).

Definitely NOT the Ibis. I got refused entry when I went there with a couple.

Wow...really??? Even the Prem Inn and Travelodge don't do that, I don't think, although it can take a bit of logistical care to get 17 guys into a room with a couple as I experienced once...!!

Incidentally - you soon run out of places to put clothes when you have that many naked people in a small room!!

I was meeting a guy at an Ibis. The receptionist asked if i was checking in. I said no just visiting a friend. The comment she made was sarcastic. Most would feel embarrassed and made to feel uncomfortable. I just smiled and let a giggle out...
