Depends on where it is to be held, how many you want there, what kind of vibe you want to give out etc

I wouldn't advertise it then. You don't want a bunch of strangers turning up at your address surely? Better to invite people you know and are sure will turn up?

Considering how difficult it is to meet even a few reliable suitable people of either gender on here, finding 20 will be a miracle unless you know personally many many of them personally.

I personally wouldn't do a theme night. I also think parties should be invitation only, and you need to make sure that you have the right dynamics amongst the people you choose to invite. Start with people you know well who you know get on. If it's open invitation then you might find the dynamics don't work. But be aware that approxamately only a quarter of your guests will show up. Also decide on male female ratios.

all useful comments thanks, better photos required, give theme night a miss, maybe lower the numbers..as I don't know 20 peeps who are up for it as yet, perhaps a more intimate number to begin with

We have been to quite a few, and are friends with folks who have held, and continue to hold them.

I'd say the best way to build a guest list would be to start with friends, and ask them to recommend their friends, avoid just opening it up to the general fab population.

Invite a few more than you think you can accommodate, there will be drop-outs.

Don't be afraid to add a few single guys to the mix, but avoid it becoming a "sausage-fest" lol.

Themed parties are fun, don't over-complicate it.

Get guests to bring a plate contribution for a buffet, helps you keep the costs down.

Research fun games that can help break the ice, if there are lots of party-newbies, things can often be slow to start unless you give it a little nudge lol.

Definitely not a bare back event, no guest is expected to do anything
