I think you'll find that once you've booked in etc. You're given a key to come & go as you please at most hotels. This also means that visitors cannot just walk in either, you could possibly meet your visitor & then both go back to your room.
Most receptions are in a room off the main hallway entrance as they tend to use a room as reception, dining/bar in most of the hotels. |
