I know I may be able to resume sexual activity after 6 weeks but i'm wondering how long until i'm able to get down and dirty and get a proper pounding? I keep reading horror stories about the vaginal cuff tearing?! |

Maybe use your imagination and do something rather than just taking a pounding! Maybe time to try new things, think of it as an opportunity to experiment xx |

Everyone is different. What works for one person, won't necessarily be the case for you. I have recovered really well from surgery 7 months ago and everything has been back to 'normal' since 3 months post op. I would say just take it easy for a bit longer though as 6 weeks is still pretty soon for a pounding and would probably be uncomfortable if nothing else.
If you take a pounding and set yourself back, you could be months down the line regretting not waiting a bit longer.
You've had major abdominal surgery and an organ removed! Give your body some time to recover to achieve the best results long term.
Good luck xxx |

We tried gently after 6 weeks but was far too tender for anything really hard for about 3 months. But it is the best thing I've ever done and wish I hadn't put it off so long.
All the best for your op OP

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy about 2.5 years ago because of complications from having fibroids. I enjoy sex more than ever but it was about 5 months before I felt ready. Everyone is different and it also depends on how the procedure is done. I'd probably check with the GP or consultant depending on if you've been discharged.

Have my GP appointment today, planning to take things very slowly if she give us the go ahead. Expecting to tell hubby off a lot though if he doesn't allow me total control (I tell him not to move at all when trying to start anal off and yet somehow there always seems to be a slight push forward right as I'm freezing to allow me time to accommodate him!) I've explained to him that the first few times I'll essentially be using his cock as an exploratory tool to see what's comfortable! |

My friend said it took her three months (she was still married then) but she is so glad she had it done.....no monthly breaks from having fun...no big hormone problems...no risk of pregnancy (with safe partner) |

Intrigued by this as I'm having one soon...... Most on groups I've seen say give it about three months (that's gonna fookin kill me - but needs must!!).
Mind you I was supposed to have mine in March and it's still not happened for various reasons - instead they cheesewired cells off again and made me wait - bless the NHS! |

I had mine done last November and it still hurts when having sex it takes a while for the body to get back to normal,go slowly at first as going hard at it can cause internal corrosion and you won't be fully heald you might feel okay but I'm still healing just be careful |

After my hysterectomy I was in too much pain to even consider sex, even after 3 months. I had my uterus removed along with a large fibroid and a very large fibroid. I still get pain during sex, with some large cocks,or bent to the left ones, and in some positions. But,I enjoy sex so much more now (possibly because I'm not having it with my husband), and my sex drive went up a lot (probably because I was almost dead from iron deficiency before the op). Good luck and take it slow, listen to your body. |

I had my hysterectomy in 2014 when I was 33. Didn't have sex until I was allowed but had some fun before. I have a vaginal cuff and have had sex with a very well endowed man and all was good. No tears.. still worries me tho even though I'm healed. Just don't have anyone play with you down there as it can cause infection. |

I've been going through that over the last three years and waiting for another biopsy result before they decide the next step.
Is it true you aren't allowed to do anything after the op? I mean in general not sexual lol. |

I am obviously not a 'natural expert on this subject' but don't forget that there are several quite different levels of hysterectomy...
Some are far more invasive than others and affect the muscle recovery in different ways - take the advice if your consultant and ask for nurse practitioner advice on exercises and/or trainers that can help with exercises... |

I had everything taken including the cervix. I'm on lose dose oestrogen which is helping with the hormonal side effects of being thrown into full blown menopause. Thankfully they operated laprascopically so I didn't have any major cuts externally. So relieved my sex drive hasn't vanished but I can understand why some people are so badly effected by it. |

I underwent a hysterectomy last July. By week 8 was having gentle sex. By week 12 I was back to normal. But everyone else is different. It takes 12months so they told me to fully recover. Get the all clear from your consultant. Before you resume having sex.
