OK, so I've finally decided to update my profile giving at least one reason why I am not gung ho on meeting.
Is it necessary?
The reality is that yes, I have a close friend who is the main focus of my life right now. At the time I joined, we were close friends, nothing more, but this has slowly evolved into so much more.
He of course knows I'm here (he is, too), and I'm completely honest with him regarding who I meet and for what.
Til now I've taken the attitude that--no one else needs to know, as I try to make it clear that I'm here mostly for chat, but it occurred to me that meeting for a drink may give the impression to someone (no matter how clearly I state up front that a drink and a laugh is all I'm looking for) that it might evolve into more (which it might, but that's not a given--at which point I'd first of all let them know about my friend).
So again--How honest is honest? I truly don't like appearing dishonest.

"Stipulate beforehand you are only here to socialise, there will be no sex or kissing etc. "
So long as this is clear I see no harm, but the context of the website is that people will be thinking that more is a possibility if things go well. |
