So a guy I've previously met for a social months ago invited me around to his place last night. We were in the living room when there's a knock at the door, he totally freaks out and turns out the lights/tv to pretend that nobody is home - he's heavy breathing and shaking! The knocker persists and so he begs me to go and stand outside the back patio windows (in the rain) (BAREFOOT as my boots are in the hallway near the front door). His place backs onto a river so unless I fancied swimming there was absolutely nowhere for me to go! 5 minutes later he chucks my boots out the back door and after another LONG five minutes he lets me in then gets me to wait until we hear the car drive off! As we stood there in total silence he said, "I don't have a partner if that's what you're thinking". |

"Might have been hes mom come back from bingo early. You choose some right guys op lol"
Don't I know it! I do all the right things like having a Social first, Skyping, etc, etc and still end up in these situations! I was so tempted to just walk out the front door but I didn't want to be part of any drama. |

"Still waiting for who he said it was?!"
Well this is where he really outdid himself. After saying that he didn't have a partner and I just raised my eyebrows and stayed silent, he obviously felt the need to explain further..."I didn't want anyone to see you here because...well...you're older aren't you" I'M 29!!! |

Omg what a knob. If he was going to be questioned by his extra visitor what's wrong with just saying you're just a friend? |

I'd have refused, there's no way i would stand outside like that. If he can't be honest in then1st place, why should you have to be humiliated?
I had a guy once ask me to leave his house via the window so his neighbour wouldn't see me. I told him where to go. |

Sounds like it may not be his house - parents perhaps? X
I had someone once take a phone call part way through a date and panic madly - his story that it was an ex who phoned to say one of his children had had an minor accident would have been more believable as completely true if he hadn't spent the ten minutes it took us to leave madly removing any trace of us ever being there from the apartment! I'm struggling to think of any GOOD reason why he should have done this. To my mind, if he's ashamed of you/meeting you, then you don't owe him the courtesy of being discreet in front of his visitor. I'd like to think that, in the same circumstances, I would have walked back in after 5 mins, collected my boots and left. |

Or maybe he was just afraid you'd write all about him on the forums? |

"Very far fetched. Probably never happened.
Someone's led a sheltered life.
Why? Funny isn't it, if a bloke write it it would be bullshit but Coz a woman wrote it it's true? "
I could understand if I was posting from a profile that had no verifications but i'd like to think unless my husband has been very convincingly passing as a women then all of my verifications are very much evidence that i'm not some fantastist, and that if I were i'd use that imagination to come up with something a little better than the reality of the other night! |

"If he hasn't got a partner why the hell would he react like that !!! Grrrrrrr "
Could have been house sitting and not allowed to entertain anyone in their home. I used to house sit for money in my teens and until this one particular family started to trust me they regularly sent visitors round to check on me |

Sure people would assume if it was from a woman's profile with no verifications that it was made up, similarly if it was from a guy's profile who was well verified then it would be believable? |

"I thought his wife was coming home there unexpectedly lol.
If it was his wife ...she would have had a key don't you think "
This was the only thing that made me think that it might be true that it was his ex partner as if he was currently with her then she'd have a key? |

Nothing to do with being verified. Had a guy posted it, it would of been a completely different response.. |
