In amongst the Unicorns & fairy dust

Well fabbers / forumites I'm looking for advice / comments or suggestions - 16 months ago I had a cycling incident which resulted in skin grafts to both sides of my calf area on my right leg ,,,, the skin has healed well but looks dramatic/ unsightly to people and younger Childers I don't know very well

It has been easy in the winter months to disguise under opaque stockings / hold ups ,,,,, but now the weather is on the sunny side and that's all great what do I do about my scars ??? - I have tattoos and thinking into the future about tattoos coverings /masking stop avert the eyes when bare legged ,,,, any suggestions ?

J

Leave them be. Scars are sexy.

Tattoos won't stop people looking but it might make them look for a different reason.

Three years isn't long in terms of scarring and over time the shape or design of a tattoo might alter where the tissue shrinks.

I understand that you're conscious of people looking though so if you feel it would help go for it

If you want tattoo's over a scar.. The best people to ask would be tattoo artists.. Some will do it.. Some won't.. And it depends on the age of the scar in most cases.. Lots of people have tattoos over scars.. Google images..

If you are self conscious about your scars.. Then maxi dresses, long skirts, cotton trousers all would be comfortable in hotter months.

If you are not self conscious.. Then ignore the stares and Wear what you want and don't worry about others small mindedness

Thank you all for your comments - I forgot about the hair bit in the title The skin on my shin that is not scarred has very rapid hair growth ( perhaps from all the bio oil) I'm so glad I'm a redhead because the hairs are very fair but having to shave almost every day to keep the skin smooth is becoming ridiculous

I think it's like everything - some will be fine with it whilst others won't be. It's up to you to decide to react to others opinions

You can either cover up with clothing or just rock it. It wouldn't bother us at all.

I've got severe scarring to my lower back following reconstruction. Due to reactions from my ex I've always been self conscious about it. J loves them as they are part of me but I still hated them and avoided Jacuzzis at clubs, wearing clothes that covered the scars etc.

However, with j's encouragement I got braver & now walk around in clubs with my back on show & have had no bad reaction. My attitude now is if people are offended by them that's their issue not mine & they can do one. I will get it tattooed eventually but right now I'm loving life & happily get in and out of Jacuzzis too xx
