Why aren't there many successful socials in London?
I always see the success of them up north, people even travelling up to go to them
What makes a successful social and what do people think about the thread "Central London Social"? ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

I've wondered that, I don't live in London but it's a place I can get to easily.
My assumption has always been because of the clubs on offer in the area make it easier for people to attend them as some are regularly open during the day as well. I'm probably wrong but that's what I think. |

Been to a couple of socials in Edmonton, about 4 years ago, which were good. But the organisers couldn't do it anymore. Also a one off social in east Finchley which wasn't bad.
The fab social at ourplace4fun was a cracker as well |

"There are too many established swinger's clubs to choose from. Plus, the precious little leisure time I have, I spend socialising with my friends"
This is what it is for us too. Plus, we wouldn't travel into central London for a meet, there are lots of local people and central London isn't that great a place to be .... |

You can make friends in the scene too... well at least I have.
I love central!
I have seen other people try to organise socials in other parts of London and people are always saying why not somewhere central?

London people seem to be very negative about organised socials. The best ones I have been to are the Heathrow socials, one of which was held last night.
I know a few people that have tried to organise them and people seem to thrive in negativity and almost hope that they don't get off of the ground. The mind boggles ![](/icons/s/2/eh.gif) |

We live in Bexley, we would love to go to more socials but for us it is simply a case of having time when we aren't working. Week nights at least one of us is working late and then we only get two weekends in five to try and be out and about.
We have been to the one that is held near Heathrow and it was really good. The thing is it is literally the opposite side of London. If there was one nearer then we would certainly check it out! |

I feel exactly the same. Coincidentally, from Bexley too. Sadly the pubs and club in Bexley aren't all that & Eureka is really only the only 'local' things... but once again, that's out towards Kent.
It'd be nice to be able to meet people in Bexley, for example, for a nice stress-free social. |

We have been to a lot of clubs, and Eurekas we walked out of after 15 minutes. Only one other club we have been to (which was up north) felt so seedy. Thats our personal opinion though.
The thing is if you could guarantee attendance if would be good to rent a function room somewhere... |

Totally entitled to your opinions. But correct. I'm sure many places locally would be able to hold something (just so long as the swinging aspect is omitted). |

Well like we said, we went to a social near Heathrow and it was a very pleasent evening at a nice pub. We chatted and left having enjoyed the purely social side of things.
We are sure some people moved on to private places etc after that...If we had the time we would happily try organising it. If we did though it would be a total one off. |

I may need to rethink next Sunday and do another time...
I 9nly thought about this as amother guy started a thread to organise a social and it wasn't going anywhere and mamy said that if a girl or couple headed it, it would be better x |

We would agree with that. If it was headed by a single guy I dont think you would get as many couples/single women interested. It sounds bad, but unfortunatly thats the way it is. Although we have known some lovely single guys

Good question OP.
I only know of one group who have been organising socials, the Heathrow one.
There are a lot of clubs in London with established nights and traveling around the capital can take a lot of time, maybe that has something to do with it. |

Unfortuantly one of us works Monday to Friday fairly long hours, and the other works shift work with a lot of lates and nights involved. Once you take into account family time and the boring day to day stuff that needs to be done, you can see why its hard. |

You could probably go to a different Fet Munch in London most nights of the week and I;ve never understood why that doesn't transfer to the swinging scene. |

But the Northerners make time for it
I'll try and set a date that's convenient for MOST I won't be able to consider all when planning, would be nice, but not realistic unfortunately
Hopefully on a night that is just before people decide to go off to play.
The social at the roof garden in Kensington did well because it was just like a normal night out that people eventually mingled with the regular club goers (one swinger was a dance instructor and helped a dead dance floor at a wedding reception come to life) or people left to go to hotels to have fun. |

Whould it work at "Central station" pub? I know the ground floor pub is very LGBT friendly and occasionally the venue hosts lifestyle/gay/trans friendly type events there.
I'm sure that they wouldn't take much notice of a bunch of swingers having a social there. |

"You could probably go to a different Fet Munch in London most nights of the week and I;ve never understood why that doesn't transfer to the swinging scene."
It did for a while on another site (mingingheaven) but then they bastardised the whole munch idea, making people jump through hoops to get an invite, the site trying to dictate who was allowed to attend etc, etc.
The whole ethos of a fet munch i.e. inclusive, newbie friendly etc. just fell by the wayside over time because it was a shame.
We held the first one in the White Horse in Carnaby Street in the main bar and I think there where only about 12 of us there but it grew until there were a core of about 40 that used to attend regularly.

On my opinion is think that the spaces (units) in London is way too expensive in rent and after that reflects on the customers meaning there's not soo many swingers going to clubs so the little money the owners get is not enough to keep them going example The F Club was a great swingers club but lots of us instead of spending £100/200 in the club u rather get an hotel. Up north much cheaper rent ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |

I don't think so
Because a couple of years ago I went to Xtasia with my missus as we were playing in 1 of the open rooms are gent decided to come close and he touch my wife she didn't felt comfortable with him so we stop playing and i told him, she doesn't want to play the guy looked at me like he wanted to fight me I didn't bother or make a scene. Meaning, there's good and bad people in here or China ![](/icons/s/2/idea.gif) |

The clubs around London are generally either expensive or not very good. With an area in excess of 750 square miles, there is a lot of ground to cover. It is just as easy for me to get to somewhere like Xtasia or Jaydees as it is to get across town to somewhere like paradise spa. I understand people being put out by the hassle of traveling but not by the negative attitude to the idea of attending |

I've promoted (non swing) club events for years. No matter where a social is, you're gonna have people whinging about the location, date, time, lavatories, facilities (Swinging Darts Team anyone?) etc.
Mae, you go for it and if I'm free, intended to be there ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Right may be best for me to start a list of people going. So if you are interested in this Sunday (27th March) at 6pm. I have a venue already reserved for 20 people at the Euston Flyer Pub between Euston station and King's Cross station. If there are MORE than 20 people coming, I have another venue at the ready which is close to Oxford circus station.
Please go to the thread: Central London Social
And tell me there
So I can see the numbers we may expect.
I hope to meet you all ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |
