So I've been on fab for a while now, not to long but enough to have established the etiquette of this site, you know the 'unwritten rules'. However I'm struggling to find anyone willing to meet me other then men. Any reasons for this?

you have verifications....and one is from a meet so not doing too bad...
if don't want to be messaged by men you need to set your filters and hey! presto...  |

I have added filters, however some still manage to message sadly! |

that's probably because you have previously answered a message off them....next time it happens just block them |
