I am trying to book a hotel room in the Manchester for this weekend at below £100.
I have tried the usual suspects Travelodge, Premier Inn, Late Rooms and B&B sites.
It seems that every hotel in Manchester is booked up. In doing so it reminded me this had happenned before a couple of times 3 years ago and that was with 2 weeks notice and the lady l was meeting lived in Manchester and she could not get a reasonably priced room.
What is the deal with getting reasonably priced hotel room in Manchester?
Other than booking months in advance any hints or tips?
Thanks |

"Look just outside of Manchester around the Trafford Centre, Salford Quays places like that. Its easy enough to get into the centre on the tram "
Try the Copthorne hotel in Salford Quays. Part of the millennium hotels chain. 5min tram ride into the city. Usually get in there for £70ish. Pretty short notice tho. |

A few of us have had the same problem for his weekend ..I think there is some big do on at the arena!
May be worth with booing out of town & getting taxi or bus (x43) runs till 3am on Saturdays X |

Try the Park Inn, the Ainscow, the Campanile (Salford but very close) and there are a few rooms above old pubs o could recommend, depending on your tastes! |

If going for the x43 route you could try Prestwich(think there's a Travelodge there) x |

"Pretty much depending on exchange rate. Normally about 10-15% cheaper"
Normally you pay the same in dollars as what you would in sterling. We recently booked a hotel in London. Normally £130. By the time exchange rate was converted it was £97. |

I work for travelodge and the reason for the high price is purely because there are alot of events going in Manchester this weekend football, arena, concerts at multiple venue's and even a festival at bowlers to name a few. Just bad timing mainly pal |

The football is on AND the boxing. So it will near enough be IMPOSSIBLE to get a hotel IN Manchester
Your best bet is outside of Manchester where there is a short commute.

Go to a gay sauna. Lock yourself in a cubicle and get some kip. Get up in morning, take a shower and go get some brekkie.
You don't have to play or interact and they are well used to guys who've had a few drinks rockin in at all hours.
Even if you have to become a member it'll still be under £40 |

Try hotels.com they are really good and have some great offers, plus if you book 10 stays in various hotels you get a free night away.
So for me who is always travelling is great news as I get free nights away paid by work. |

You have a very high profile boxing match at the MEN on sat night(Framton vs Quigg) and Man utd are at home to Arsenal on the sunday and lots of Irish man utd fans travel over for the home games. We go to Manchester frequently but the cheapest time to book is in the summer months outside the footly season and avoiding the big events at the arena. Sorry, but its unlikely you will get a room under £100 this weekend. |

Book one in Oldham just up the road - on the tram network or taxi in to city - hotels half the price and less |

Check out the hotels on the tram routes. Getting into town from those is minutes to 20 mins max and no problem
City center hotel is handy but unless booking well in advance it's impossible or can be pish take money last min at weekends. |
