Telling people that a party is cancelled when it isn't...

What do people think that they are going to gain by doing this?

Is their party so lame that they need to try and bolster numbers by telling people that the party they are going to is cancelled...

Hopefully everyone who has received these messages will report these people...

You Dont Need to Know, right now

I think the OP means two separate parties. Organisers of one party have been messaging people who were planning on attending THE OTHER PARTY that the other party is cancelled. Bit of a sneaky trick, if true, but I can't really see why these people should be reported.

You are correct and clearer than I was...

I still think that dishonesty like that should be reported... If not we should be able to name and shame... Which will never happen...

If you are in contact with the original party organiser whose party you were attending wouldn't it be very easy to just check with them to make sure the party was still on if someone else told you it was cancelled? It is a sneaky thing to do but pretty easy to see through it if someone is telling fibs.

If I'd arranged to go to a party with the people organising one, why on earth would I take any notice of a message from someone other than them about changes to the arrangements?

southampton

We used to be regulars at a certain party and hosts of another party told the Police there was witchcraft and prostitutes at the parties we used to go to.

Police visited and saw exactly what was going on and saw the funny side, said all was fine!!

So if you organised a party or a meet, you would be happy if someone organising a party the same night told people you had cancelled? I would think not...

Obviously you would check with the organiser of the party you are attending but I still think it's a shitty thing to do...

That is a nasty little trick and so people should know to contact the organisers themselves anyway.
