"Awwww in sure it wouldn't put people off, I'd to think it wouldn't anyway. Have you got any cream for it? "
I have to apply 3 different creams daily and a scalp solution every day still bearly keeps it under control |

"I've got psoriasis quite bad in some places and v nervous with meets would it put people off me?"
In all honesty - yes. That might put me off. The way people look is always going to be a factor (although of varying importance) in meeting people and to say otherwise on a swingers site is somewhat naive. |

It does suck OP.
I get patches of the same through stress. Even on my face. Some days it looks bad others it doesn't. But to honest I have never had anyone comment on it or even turn me down for being a freak!!
I'd more likely exchange make up ideas with you.
If people are judgemental of a skin condition of this kind. I'd say don't bother meeting them.
It's life. And plenty of people have it. And as others have said. 'It sucks'

"Sun light therapy worked wonders for mine. Go to your gp and ask to see a dermatologist who could get you a course of light therapy. "
I tried that, went to hospital 3 times a week for about 3 months, eventually got rid of it, it started to come back less than a week after the treatment stopped, within a month it was just as bad as it was whenI started.
Psoriasis is cruel in the way a treatment can be a silver bullet for one person, and not work on another. |

I have had several meets with another lady on here who has psoriasis. It tends to be on her hands and knees mostly but can flare up on her tummy area.....she avoids meeting when it gets bad. But to be fair...if not in a "sensitive" area it does/would not bother me. |

ive tried sunbeds sometimes..if i have something coming up i maybe want to wear shorter skirt, nice dress etc...its really worked for me,seems to takes weeks for it to come back, but in the long term i guees theyre not ideal...i dont have it badly enough now to get light treatments from the nhs.
the trouble is that until they know what causes it, its pretty hard to come up with any cure. |

I George had this for years, on my scalp and knees sometimes elbows,
about 15 yrs ago I had a general which is a total body covering, it was very sore and itchy for 3 wks didn't know what to do with myself, docs tried alsorts of cures nothing worked,
then a specialist gave me some cream called lockoid, rubbed it in everywhere and woke in the morning it had calmed down, it wasn't red or sore just rough skin, he said that it had probably run its course but the cream realy did help, few days latter the skin on my hand cum of in chunks literally, that lasted a week ish and cleared up,
good news is I haven't had any more probs since its completely gone |

this......
when i was first diagnosed with it (i suffer with it right on the top of my head) a lot of people suggested tar gel shampoo..... way too harsh for me and basically burnt my scalp....
in the end with with it has been a case of trial and error... and the thing that works for me and keeping mine under control is aloe vera... which i can either just grow a plane and chop a little off... or just go down to holland and barrett and get some.... |

I have suffered for years and have had every medical way of helping because as we all know it can not be cured Recently my skin specialist suggested I start a treatment that involves an injection given by myself every 12 weeks called Stelara, this works well and my skin is now clear for the first time in many years.Husbands support helped me accept my skin and the people who called me names-thank you-he always said its their problem not mine.

'will solve it' is a rather wild claim....i know it can help with eczema which is dairy sensitive, but claiming it will cure something that 1 in 10 people suffer from is a bit ridiculous. help, maybe, but 'solve' sorry,no.

Few times a week. Ideally daily to see if it makes a difference after a few days |

I get a small amount on my elbows but also a patch on my face, between my eyebrows if I am going through a particularly stressful time.
My mum has always suffered with it, mainly on her elbows and arms and she purchased a facial solarium and would sit with her elbows in front of it for a short period a few times a week.
It can make you feel self conscious, I try and hide the patch I have currently with my fringe.

I too am on stelara and its almost a miracle cure
tiny injections once every 3 months and I'm 99% clear after being at one point 95% covered and hospitalised twice
my specialist put me on methotrexate for 5 years and then cyclosporine but blood pressure probs forced me to stop
been on stellara for 3 years now and its fantastic
stubborn spots like scalp groins and crack of my buttocks still suffer
people stop staring at me like a leper on nudist beaches,
now they just stare at me like a beached whale!!!
seriously its changed my life
get onto your gp or specialist |

Mr has pretty it pretty bad, creams only keep it at bay as there really isn't any cure for it, he is pretty self conscious of it but as far as we know it hasn't effected our meets. If it is something you worry about your best bet is to be open about it, once people know what it is I think they are more sympathetic than anything else. |

Please, please, please if you have any skin condition DO NOT use sun beds to try and control your symptoms.
Sun beds are uncontrolled sources of UV light and are highly dangerous in terms of causing skin cancer. Why they are permitted to be sold/used by the general public I have no idea.
I've had light therapy and can no longer have it due to the very slight increase in risk of skin cancer due to repeated exposure to UV. That was under controlled conditions in hospital. Light therapy worked initially for me but gradually became less effective. If it works it is am amazing treatment, but as mentioned above, what works for one sufferer can have no impact on another.
Best thing is to talk to your GP, get referred to a dermatologist and discuss your options with them. But DON'T use sunbeds - please! |

Agree with joemangle about sunbeds. No, psoriasis wouldn't put me off. It's about the experience and the person, not all about the physical and image.
I suffer from a little eczema myself and like many others have parts of my body I don't like. |

I had two large plaques measuring two inches by two of psoriasis on my chest and stomach a few years back but wore basques to cover them when I met folk. I was very conscious of it. For me it flares up during severe stress and also for hormone reasons. Never had it since as bad thankfully |

I posted earlier but no one seems to have noticed
there is a 95% cure called stelara
injection every three months
I still have a few spots on my scalp
-ceanel shampoo dissolves that
and the only problem area is in the cleft of my buttocks
google stelara
the side effects listed are not for the feint hearted
all I get is flu like symptoms for 24hrs
I see a specialist and we tried everything

it removes the crusty flakey bits and leaves a shiny flat red surface
then you need to apply whatever lotion u use
dovobet or whatever
I found if I soaked in a bath for 30 mins all my flakes came off
leaving shiny flat red patches
DONT use dovonex/dovobet before using a sunbed or tanning
it drastically reduces burn time
I underwent puva and uva therapy and one time went blathered in dovonex and got burnt badly blisters everywhere
I think u have to be badly affected to be put on stelara
I look back at pics videos of me covered with it
I now forget I even have psoriasis!!

sorry I may be misleading you
30 mins was for my body flakes to come off
ceanel works after a minute or so
it removes the scaly bits
I did mine dinner time and 9 hours later its crusting up again but its so insignificant I don't bother applying creams lotions thanks to the stelara |

Hi.. Suffered for years all over my body.. And tried everything...
Near enough clear now. Minor scales in elbow/knees..stress is my major cause and Complete lifestyle change worked for me.. Don't be ashamed.. Explain what it is and most people are fine with it. Also USA leads the way in over the counter creams.. I got this and you can get it on amazon cheap as chips
Mg217 multi symptom ointment.. Coal tar based but nice selling and goes a very long way.. Also do a moisturising cream too.. But I tend to stick to. Mango or coconut oil based moisturisers which really work.
Hope this helps...take the stress out of your life do some yoga... It's mental and it works?.
Good luck. |

its just the 2 main steroid ingredients in most psoriarsis creams, just in a stronger dose..so yes, it will work, but long term its not a good idea...theres a reason steroids are prescription only here.. |

Hi .
Message me privately and I will give you details of the hospital / spa abroad that helped my brother regarding the worst kind of psoriasis .
He had all over his whole body and head . There wasn't a spot clear and it was very very severe .
He had been clear for 20 years now and not used any treatment since . |

My daughter suffers from psoriasis - it first appeared around 11 years old & the doctor linked it with strep throats as the trigger. Over the years she has tried many things medical/self help/ all the above in various forms.
It flares when she is stressed or under the weather. The things that appear to work best for her.
* Sunshine (light therapy & sun beds have their drawbacks)
* excercise & keeping her body & immune system as strong as possible
* avoiding dairy & other fat filled foods
It abates but never completely goes away - So appears no magic bullet or total cure. It's a seemingly variable set of treatment what works for one does not work for all.
In the end it's a condition, those that see a person - don't see the condition.
Xx B

Smoking really exacerbates This condition
Dry foods IE too much fast food
Healthy Eating
Drinking alcohol
Dried Skin etc.
Stress Is Key
Perfumes , chemicals
Too much Washing of skin
Allergy testing will help
Tactically Draw from above ideas
Check with Doc
If on Meds
Keep at it
Don't give up
The Answer is There x |

"My daughter suffers from psoriasis - it first appeared around 11 years old & the doctor linked it with strep throats as the trigger.
Xx B
"
psoriasis is actually an immune disorder
so keeping your immune system strong can be counter productive
treatments such as cyclosporine and the like switch off the immune system
stelara is the first that only targets the immune systems that targets the skin |

Iceland, but Aldi is closer.. |
I use evening primrose tablets to deal with my flare ups.
Stress is the main factor for me and probably diet when I did get stressed, eating rubbish food and drinking too much..
Had stress counselling which helped deal with the root cause of my anxiety (job related)and haven't had any flare ups since.. |

Amazing thread! Me (mr) have been suffering for three years now, back shoulders, elbows, thighs and knees. Finally got a referral to specialist with a four month wait.
For me sunbeds do not clear it but having a tan does cover the harsh look of it. I have found Palmers coco butter gradual tan works good. But generally if I know we are going on a meet I make sure I apply loads of steroid cream for two weeks leading up and it does clear up and with a bit of a tan, I feel great.
In the US hemp oil is prescribed with great results and also medical cannabis to relieve stress.
Great thread!!! |

Also if my condition continues to get worst I will use private health care. I know there is no 100% cure but using the NHS will take a long time and also it will be cost effective treatment on their behalf. |

My partner has suffered with it most of her life but is now the worst it's ever been, she has 4 different steroid creams aswell as a bath solution, shampoo and natural ointments. Just as it clears up something as little as the steam from a pan of boiling water triggers it and we are back to square one. She has been put on methotrexate for her arthritis which has helped a lot and also has a hot wax also for her arthritis but is also great for her skin. We are slowly getting on top of it, I say we because it has been a huge joint effort to get this far by rubbing creams in daily, doing all the cooking, washing, help her bath, keep her calm and feeling positive when she is having her low days. I really do feel for those suffering, especially the extreme cases Google decides to scare us with |

your post really is inspiring1 it can be so debilitating you feel no-one will ever go near you!...you sound a wonderfully supportive partner!.
ive used a variety of things since i was a teen...only thing that really works is the steroids...but in the last couple of years, for some reason, menopause seems to be just switching it off..my gp said she's seen that before...as the rest of me collapses,my skin is finally clearing!..my best wishes to your partner..and,really,to you, heartfelt admiration..its not an easy thing to deal with.. |

You're a credit to yourself, is just as much of a pain for partners as it is the sufferer.
Props for helping her out and easing her when needed |

Thanks you for your kind words. It is extremely hard work and has had a huge impact on our relationship but has made us much stronger and when she is feeling good about herself we sure do make the most of it |
