Hi guys. Just wondered if anyone had any advice or recommendations for cock ring use. Our thoughts are to try rubber or silicone first as heard a few horror stories about metal ones. Do they really enhance size and longevity of erection? Any advice appreciated! Thanks in advance. |

Yes they increase hardness. You're right in that silicone or rubber would be a good starting point. With metal ones, getting the size right is very important.
Too loose and they do nothing, too tight and they may seem ok at first but that turns to a dull ache which then turns to some pain. The trick if that happens is not to panic but to relax (easier said than done in that situation) and try giving yourself cramp somewhere to get rid of the boner.
They're very cheap so you can experiment with lots of different types for very little money. |

I wouldnt advise a metal cock ring on the shaft or it could end badly. The best ones are the silicone ones as used in medical grade impotence vacuum pump kits. |

Start with a silicone one... It's a no brainer really as they're much safer and cheap as chips.
I have a metal one (see profile pic) but I don't think I'd ever have sex with it on. Once or twice it felt a little too tight and I gave myself a bit of a scare. If that happens you quickly lose your hard on anyway, but for me a cold shower calmed the nerves and it was all back to normal within minutes.
As for does it intensify things. Yes. Definitely. But it has to be tight which makes the whole thing a catch 22.
Does it really make things "bigger"? Certainly not longer, in my opinion, but definitely thicker. |

As a receiver, the non-mental ones don't make any difference to me.
The metal ones, however, do make quite a bit of difference. Just measure up accurately and you'll be fine. |

I'd go rubber, then silicone, then metal in that order of preference.
I love my black rubber ones, just a little bit of give for size, don't "bite" like the metal ones, but are firmer than the silicone ones.
The metal ones may look fun, but also the downside with those is, if someone "goes on top" i.e. cowgirl etc, you end up with a circular bruise around the pubis area!
IME / FWIW etc.

it's better to get one that is thicker than thin, that way it doesn't cut into you or break. I have a LH one and although I am smooth it does add extra veins to my shaft and makes my head bulge. There are different techniques to putting them on; around the base of the shaft or around the base of the shaft and behind the balls. Either way they are not intended for regular or extended play, but they do add girth and I would say some length, but not much. |
