Hi anyone who bothers to check this thread.

I'm quite new to the site but wanted some advice from people when it comes to being approached by people who have only been on the site a couple of days and have no photos, verifications, and don't support the site.

Does anyone else here bother committing any time when approached by those people?

To be fair when I joined I made sure to get my profile filled out with something before I considered firing off messages.

I ask as I'm well aware there are plenty of unscrupulous on the internet.

No Photo Verification, No Veri's... Proceed with caution.

Usually they will disappear pretty soon, whoever they may be pretending to be.

Sorry to be cynical. This is our experience

You might find it helps to set your email preferences to block newbies.

We tend to ignore everyone until they've been here for three months or so

Yup, ignore 'em. There's a filter you can enable in your settings that blocks people who've been here less than a week which solved my problem of looking at my inbox after a day or two and seeing half the messages from "user no longer on site"

Another red flag for me is their profile saying "been here before (usually followed with "so i know how it works"/"but i just couldn't stay away" for some reason), though I'm not saying they all end up leaving again soon, obviously.

Or profiles that just say "will fill in later" or "looking for fun" and nothing else :P

Thanks for the input, I've had a tinker around with my filters.

I would only proceed with extreme caution. Perhaps point out the lack of information in their profile.

Everyone was a newbie once, and some newbies need guidance, but if after a few days exchanging messages they still have no photos or info and aren't giving you any in their messages....it's safe to assume they're not serious.

I agree with most of your points, but I don't get what you mean about people who've been on here before?

Feel for you OP....I get so many women messaging me who have only just joined! I now filter them as I cannot keep up!

(I wish lol!)

Seriously...use your filters if this really is a problem.

Like I said, I'm not saying they're all the kind to do it, but I'd noticed before there's a few guys that join, get fed up, leave, get horny/lonely, join, get fed up, leave, etc etc. Indecisiveness of that kind isn't a trait that instills faith in their reliability, heh. For me, anyway.

Of course there are people who've left and came back for slightly more valid reasons, like I said I wasn't painting everyone who's deleted their account before with the same brush :]

As said by someone else people have to start somewhere. I had the view of most new profiles being fake but we met a very nice couple who I thought wouldn't show to our arranged social. I was very wrong.

That's not cynical, just good advice!

LOTS of people accused me of being a fake as I prioritise meets with people that have been recommended to me, until the verifications started appearing on my profile then a few had the decency to come back and apologise at least.
