So here's the thing, I am, for want of a better description, a skinny man. Now I have always been skinny, even though I have done quite physical jobs, eat a balanced diet, and attend (somewhat begrudgingly) yoga classes once a week.
I am physically fit, yet..... I am skinny. When I look at photos of myself I am not so very pleased, yet I accept who I am and garner a degree of interest on this site, which has resulted in a delightful.meeting or two, whilst making me feel.more comfortable in my own skin.
Is there a point to this rambling? Well yes, I would like to be bigger or at least more filled out. (EAT MORE!, if only that worked) and have yet to hit upon a good solution. I am interested in hearing from other skinny peeps about what has worked for them, whether body dismorphia (is that the right phrase?) Isn't something to worry about or is it something that can be channeled to a positive?
I understand that skinny peeps aren't for everyone, I find myself avoiding couples with buff males or single women that have numerous verifications from buff men; as I am acutely self conscious in this regard, yet in an effort to improve all.aspects of my life (not just the swinging aspect) I wondered if some may share their experiences or tips (EAT MORE!) |

I find it difficult to add muscle mass, as you can see from my avatar. The result of fucking months of bicep curls and protein shakes in addition to a healthy (ish) diet. Fast metabolism, I think, for example, I need to cut my fingernails weekly. |

"Your body looks fine to me, and you've got great verifications so I guess it doesn't really matter! Much better than being a porker IMO... "

I'm in the same boat. 6ft tall and 64kgs. Never seem to put on wieght how every much I try. So at 36 I have decided to live with it. It's more of a state of mind and being confident. Women seem to like confidence.
Your pics look good to me. Hope you find what your looking for. |

You actually touched on the answer in your OP.
Sadly, it is to eat more (and do some kind of strength training program that has progressive overload).
You are what is known as a "hard gainer", and the fact that you have a manual job makes it harder to gain.
I've heard of guys in your position having to consume upward of 4000 calories a day to gain - and its HARD to eat that much for most people.
If you are serious about it, I'd suggest you look at myfitnesspal to track your intake - the boards there have some really good advice if you wade through the bullshit. |

I went on a "double intake" diet... six months of 6400 calories per day...it fair killed me I can tell you. I did gain 1/2 a stone but the brutality of constant eating was just formidable. It was all healthy stuff too, no crap (although I did drink 4 protein shakes a day!) By every lunch time I had consumed the 3200 calories and then had to do the same again for the rest of the day.
It made me tired and lacking in, well difficult to say but "get up and go". I guess you are right though and I should go back to that. |

I tried for years to gain weight, I would start a Gym then give up after a few months or things would get in the way of me going, Work/injures etc,
Two things have changed recently which has helped me gain some weight and body shape, 1, Finding a Gym partner who has years of experience, 2, Eating a lot more especially after training which I never done, On the plus size of being slim it does make your cock stand out and look bigger |

If you are needing 6000Kcal to bulk up then fuck clean! Obviously, make sure you get your fruit and veg and healthy meats and fats (nuts etc), but the 'padding' can be as 'dirty' as you like or you'll go mental! Think: weight gain shakes, ice cream, pizza, cake...EAT (but also, importantly: TRAIN)..
Problem with a lot of diet plans is that they are written for people who have no trouble gaining weight - 6000Kcal of chicken and brown rice is fucking miserable. |

I didn't say you look small I just mean it makes it look bigger, And I was talking about myself,
As for going to the gym as a skinny dude, I'm by far the smallest Man in my Gym, It's good motivation looking up to the big guys |

I'm not particularly massive, but I can deadlift more than a lot of bigger guys. |

I hear you scrum (and my size comment was tongue in cheek). Time to get down the uni Gym and lift some weights (and hopefully not snap in the process! ) |

If you are going to lift - make sure you choose a program that is based around the big, compound lifts - Deadlift, Squat, Overhead Press and Bench Press.
Don't just focus on isolation exercises/machines - they may be great for a bodybuilder looking to 'tweak' a bit of his or her physique, but you want the most bang for your buck. |

Up the calories massively shakes are a good way.
You can easily make a smoothie/shake that's 1000kcal.
Two of them a day on top of your normal diet and you ARE going to gain mass.
What proportion is fat and what proportion is muscle will be up to training lol
Egg yolk powder
Avocado
Nuts
Oil
Cream
Maltodextrin powder (and is actually low gi and dirt cheap)
Oats.
Are all good cheap ways of adding masses of calories to a smoothie/shake.
Just obviously lair them up with other ingredients for flavour.
If you get fine ground oats they just mix in with a regular shaker |
