The strings can be a little stiff to begin with. They soften up over time.
As per the above good advice, getting them trimmed is a good thing if it bothers you.

Ended up with a big sore on the side of me bell end for a week

It's because the strings are cut! I had this issue with my first & mentioned it to the nurse on change over, they have left them uncut now & just tucked them round this time. No complaints now |

Strings are a menace. Surgical wire. I feel they could burst a condom because when the second one fell out of the Mrs I found them to be needle sharp. I too suffered bell end damage |

Having the coil was the worst decision of my life! My partners could feel the strings, I bled continually, had pain which my doctor diagnosed as IBS! Had the damn thing removed and on the mini pill, much better.
Thing is op, it's your partners preferred choice of contraceptive so unless she's your wife or gf there's not a lot you can do, sorry |

Had the same problem when my ex wife had one fitted. Not a nice feeling getting stabbed, just as you starting to go for it. Never had any problems with other women who had one fitted though.
