I hear a lot of people say they have an open relationship. Then you drill in and is basically swinging.
For me there's a difference. A relationship is an emotional connection.
Therefore an open relationship implies you are open to other emotional connection with others.
Where as with swinging its only the sex that is open.
I just get frustrated when people say there in an open relationship and do swinging. Which makes vanilla people think that's swinging. And I'd not want ppl to think I loved other ppl the way I love my partner
Anyone else think similar or disagree? |

I think swinging has such a bad reputation anyway. I bet if you did a straw poll in the street most people would still associate it with car keys in a fishbowl!
As I don't discuss swinging with non swingers, I don't really care how they _iew it! |

I think some vanilla ( I hate that term ) consider swingers in a negative way
I think some swingers consider vanilla from a somewhat superior stand point...

Swinging is to me, meeting others for sex together as a couple.
Open relationships are, in my mind, where one of the couple can meet others for sex - but with rules about levels of emotional attachment.
And polyamory is where it is open for full and multiple relationships, on a range of levels. |

Totally agree with you on that one .... get a bit fed up with some on here thinking they have found the promised lands in terms of their relationship and everyone in a vanilla one must be unsatisfied ... really? |

Swingers fits our activities well enough, as we understand it open relationships are something else altogether. Still as someone posted earlier the terms are just convenient labels. |

I've been in open relationships with swingers and kinksters. An open relationship can mean what ever the individuals make it to be. It's a grey cross over area.
Some swingers need an emotional connection/friendship, some don't. |
