Hurt. I've had 3 children and I'm probably pre menopausal at 49. I'm finding that even a normally sized penis can hurt in certain positions. Does anyone know of any treatment I can have? Is this a valid reason for a hysterectomy? Or is this normal and I just have to be inventive???

A fall in oestrogen levels after the menopause leads to thinning of the vaginal membrane, rendering them more fragile and sex painful.

A course of oestrogen pessaries or gel can help. Google Estradiol.

Sorry, not post menopausal necessarily. Can happen at any age, so I'm told. But is more likely as we get older.

Sex is already painful for me, so I'm dreading it....

I just love a woman who speaks intelligently... say 'Oestrogen' and 'Estradiol' again. Ooooohhhh
