EE Adult content filter.

So...

We're currently both contracted to O2. However the contracts are up soon and EE seems to have better reception in a lot of the areas we frequent and there's potential that we could get a deal with them too.

The problem is that I have heard a couple of times that the adult filter on EE is a complete pain in the bum and keeps re-initiating and blocking sites... Like this one.

Anyone had any experience with this? Is it still an issue or has it been resolved?

Any info greatfully received...

O o O oo

Funnily enough I had a problem with one adult site but not the other I was using...and as I am with a company that uses the EE network they had to get the block lifted from them. It was easily lifted though although a bit annoying as it blocked it after using it the day before....most odd.

Not sure but I got Tesco mobile and it seems to have blocked so you cant upgrade via text, might be some filter lol.

Being currently with EE, we can confirm that this is true. However, switching on 'airplane mode' for a few seconds clears the block for a while, so easy enough to work round the block, just a bit of a pain. Hope this helps x

We have had loads of problems, still happens now after 12 months, EE say it's a glitch with their system, they remove the content block, then it comes on again, and the coverage in Manchester and many other places is poor on EE.

I've been with EE for quite a while now and haven't had many problems. When it does block the site, which happens rarely, I just turn my phone on and off again and it seems to resolve the issue. I've also read that if the phone is put into airplane mode and back again, it can sort it out.

I've heard of other people having problems though, so I might just be lucky

When I was still on EE, I landed after an international flight, and my phone informed me it had enabled the mid-level content filter. I tried removing it... error. Tried increasing it... worked! Tried removing it again... error. The phone said to use the website. The website said to visit a store. The store told me to phone (I may have been quite rude by this time). The phone told me they'd fixed it, but they didn't. A couple more calls, and they removed it.

I switched to Three within a month, and haven't had such bullshit since.

I'm on Tesco, who use o2 as the carrier. When I first had the sim I had the message about filtering adult sites obviously due to under agers. I was given a phone number to call (I think 282 but not sure) told them I wanted the sim unblocked, customer services were great, did it there and then. That was 2 years ago and no trouble since.

Lets face it guys the phone operators can see what sites we use but I'm 45 so I really not that bothered they know I'm a swinger, perv lol or porn watcher.

I've been with EE for years and only seen the blocker twice.

Restart fixes it in a minute.

I wouldn't avoid them because of it.

Just not worth it.

I've had this problem a few times in the past but it seems to be resolved as others have said. Having said that I haven't had it recently and not being able to access adult sites when I'm not at home isn't really that important to me. Fab will still be there when I get home and am back on wifi!

Ee content block for me does the same, ive had it lifted but it still comes on occasionally, i find the best way is to put your phone into flight mode for a few minutes and then back to normal.

If u call EE simply saying adult filter is on & you want it removed they will go into their database & simply remove it so that it's never an issue for u going forward. It's what I did & never been a problem since.

"Not sure but I got Tesco mobile and it seems to have blocked so you cant upgrade via text, might be some filter lol."

The issue over upgrading by text is that it's classed as a premium rate text not because it's connected to an adult site. Many bundles mean that you don't have any credit available to text a premium rate number and some contracts have them blocked.

So if you top up a tenner then straight away use it to buy a ten pound bundle there's no credit left to pay the fiver fee so top up an extra fiver and you should be ok.

If you still have problems or are on contract contact your network and ask that the ban on premium rate numbers is lifted. But beware, if you have kids and they use your phone it means you risk getting a fat bill cos they've used it to buy accessories for their latest game!

I had the same problem but you can remove the content filter by logging in to the site if youve forgotton your login details or not used your account for over 90 days you have to ring customer services to get you set up again from there you jusy login and turn the filter off which takes seconds I had to do this last week x

There are logs of everything anyone does on their phone. Even if you delete something it can easily be found forensically. I'd advise not to use your work phone or else you may end up in an HR office

"Why on earth, in this internet age, would anyone go with EE unless they had no other choice? It's not as if you can't Google them.

Yes this works as opera mini bypasses any block the network provider has in place. They uses their own dns server's as a way of saving data for the user. This results in the bypass as your not going through your network providers dns server's.

The browser isn't very good compared to the rest but this makes up for it. Any adult sites can be accessed but may not display so well.

Fab itself works really well using opera and if you're on a limited data plan can save well over half of the usual data usage the other browsers can use.

"So...

Xxxxx"

It's not rhat it keeps reinitiating it's just when their severs go down for maintainece it seems to default on while it can't find out which it should be so typically 5-10 minutes usually at obscure times of night like 3-4am you might not get through.

A handful of times a year.

"Why on earth, in this internet age, would anyone go with EE unless they had no other choice? It's not as if you can't Google them."

EE are the only place that doesn't complain when my Internet usage tops 50gb in a month?

"

Always been to scared to use my company phone to browse this site....I don't know if they can check what I have been looking at or log on whilst I'm using it

Any help?

We sacked people for misuse of company property, based on their use of company phones.

Does that help?"

I sometimes wonder if my company can tell what I'm looking at on my personal phone whilst at work on their wi-if.

I don't really care if they do as they're not going to sack me and they're not tech savvy enough but I'm sure it's possible.

But I wouldn't do it on a company phone.

Besides I think my MD is a swinger as he lives in Ross In Wye and has a hot tub.

"Being currently with EE, we can confirm that this is true. However, switching on 'airplane mode' for a few seconds clears the block for a while, so easy enough to work round the block, just a bit of a pain. Hope this helps x"

Defiantly a pain !

Clacton on Sea

If the government have their way and get their bill passed by the house of Lords none of us will be able to any adult site without a proxy server.

They intended to block all 18+ sites in April then its now saying November...if this ever happens.

Go on Google and type in "sex and censorship", these guys are putting up a brave battle and need people to sign their petitions.

I'm on EE, all you need to do is download the EE app, log in with your phone number and in account settings, until content block. When I was on O2 I had to ring them up and pay £1 by credit card to prove I was over 18 then they refunded it. I have had no issues with EE but gets a bit slow when on 3G. Can't use hotel wifi for Fab lol

It's been a regular problem on EE.

Type 'EE down ' into Google and you will find links to other sites- that should convince you not to use EE. The content filter is only one of several reasons.

Cut a long story, they are famously bad.

And yes fab is a site that gets blocked by EE .

Why would you need a credit card/opera browser /visit-EE-shop or any other shit to get the service you pay for?

Can't believe there are people on this thread who think that's ok

I am with EE and have no problems with them at all and got a really good deal with them, far better than anywhere else and also far better coverage with them too

"I'm on Tesco, who use o2 as the carrier.

Same here. Think I had to pay £1 on a credit card to allow over 18 access which was immediately refunded to my account.
