What is the main reason for a message being read, but their is no reply to it. I understand when somebody reads a message and they delete it but i don't understand when a message has been read but there is no reply. |

Some ladies and couples get hundreds of messages a day so it simply isn't possible for them to reply to everyone. If you don't get a response, you should assume they aren't interested. If you're getting a lot of "no-replies" then you should consider your profile and the messages you send. Are they giving the right message? Are you standing out from the thousands of other guys on here? |

I think the main reason is because they haven;t bothered to waste any more time by clicking on the delete button

I sometimes read and don't reply. This can be 1 of 2 reasons.
1. I want to reply but I don't have the time to get into chatting, never mind meeting.
2. They have only just sent it or are online and I can't be bothered with the possible further message asking why I have deleted the original message. |

i actually almost wish the "been read" and "deleted" options were removed from sight... because it would stop half the whinges and complaints....
some people will read into something and make something out of nothing.....
everything just has to be analized and over analized |

We get hundreds of messages every day, usually.
So when we get a message that reads "hi" or "hy bby" or some other Brady thought out, badly typed drivel, we hit delete.
You don't owe anybody on the site anything, and nobody owes you anything, if somebody doesn't want to meet you, or isn't interested, they don't have to even reply.
We try to reply to everybody we can... But good lord... Sometimes it's just like "well you clearly didn't give a shit, why should I".
Case in point, a guy sent us a rubbish few word message earlier, clearly ignoring everything our profile says, and clearly showing he needs to go back to school. So what do we get just now?
Of course, an abusive message, calling us ignorant tossers.
Remember kids, you don't owe anybody, and they don't owe you, damn thing. C x |

It really doesn't bother me if people don't hit the "delete" button or not. If someone had read the message and hasn't deleted it, I'll keep it in my sent box until it shows they've deleted it, and then go ahead and delete the message myself.
I've never seen the point in sending someone an abusive message purely for the fact they don't feel a connection to want to talk to you. if someone doesn't get on with someone else in the real world, they don't hurl ignorant insults at them. Just because the idea of sex is potentially on the table, people let pride get in the way and it just makes them nasty.
People are better than that. |

I've left messages read but not deleted before as sometimes I have a small bet with myself as to how long it'll be before a follow up "I see you've read my message" message appears from the same profile.
I save all the winnings from these bets and use them to buy Xmas presents for the woof.
She's in for a great Xmas this year!!

Ladies get lots of messages on Fabs.
Obvious if they wanted to chat they would reply to you.
I have found if you do reply nicely and say no thanks,then some guys throw their toys out the pram and get abusive.
I wouldnt take it too personally if no reply.

You aren't their type!!!... Or they asked for pics and you didn't send them.. I delete and block if a guys says I can meet now!! With no previous message. I also.. Man are alway complaining about how rude us women are. Forgetting that their massage said " I fuck you now"! |

Read it. Either not interested or no time to deal with it. It moves down the stream. Disappears. Is forgotten. Then block deleted. This is what happens with me. |

They probably just couldnt be bothered to hit delete or send a thanks but no thanks type message.
Or depending on how long ago they read it, they could possibly be going to reply later on. We rarely reply to messages straight away.

Half the messages we get are from people who haven't read our profile and messaged how we have asked, so why should we bother reading their message properly. Swings and roundabouts!
A decent message will get a decent reply. Make the effort and so will we....

I sometimes can't reply straight away because im busy with my kids. Then i get another message saying why havent you answered me?
I have a life outside of fab and will answer when i have time. If im not interested then i say no politely then delete the message. |

Usually if we don't reply it's for one of two reasons, either we are waiting until we are together to reply as one of us doesn't want to make a decision on behalf of both members of a couples profile OR the profile has not information or photos on...generally messages say 'you both look lovely' what do I say? 'You don't have any pics so I don't know what you look like' sometimes if the profile is well written I'll ask if they have pics otherwise if they can't be bothered why should I? |

I'm not criticising that, but what if there are some really good messages further down? They go too.
I've always thought that better message handling would be a key improvement to the site - allowing access to page 2 of the message list for a start.
Otherwise messages have to be sent either while the recipient is online, or just before (!) on order to be at the top of the page at the right time.
