Ingrown hairs

I absolutely do not want to embrace the bush (just personally don't feel sexy and clean with it) but whatever method I use I get constant ingrown hairs which I can't resist attacking. This results in a not very attractive foo and lots of little scars. It's not my lady lips that are the problem, it's all of the area on top and my thighs. I exfoliate regularly and moisturise every day but I'm so self conscious about it. Help!

I've found that shaving every day has helped with this problem....also tweezers have become a must have piece of kit.

Haha, I think hubby thinks I have a problem as I'll disappear into the loo for ages. I'll sit there scrutinizing every bump and trying to get every hair I can. Oh that feeling of achievement when you get that little bastard that has been taunting you for days! X

I have the exact same problem.

I find it quite upsetting at times.

I changed to using an electric razor thinking a close trim would prevent the hair ingrowing but I still get them.

Recently I have started to exfoliate the area daily in the shower and keep well hydrated with moisturiser. Hopefully this will have some impact.

Have you tried waxing or go to a therapist and explain your problem.

"Have you tried waxing or go to a therapist and explain your problem. "

I've tried waxing and currently I epilate. The problem is, the hair is obviously ingrown at a much deeper level of skin that an exfoliant isn't going to touch. Same with shaving every day etc, the hair has to break through to be able to shave it but instead it's ingrowing. I feel the other lady's pain about it being upsetting. You go to the effort of nice underwear, doing your hair and make up, but then the crucial area lets you down!

I get them as well quite badly (to the point I'll use makeup to tidy up the look of that area )

Despite exfoliating to within an inch of my life everyday.

One thing which has improved things a little for me is Ingrow Go lotion (or there's another one called Tend Skin) which doesn't really help with existing ones but does seem to help stop new ones appearing.

All sounds such a faff. I know natural isn't the done thing around here but I'm so glad RG decided to sport her natural coat. In my opinion at least it is far far sexier and means she doesn't sit there with a pin and tweezers turning herself into a pin cushion, it's not a good look and neither is the after effect with spots and blemishes everywhere.

Near enough

Try Magic Powder, I used to get terrible ingrown hairs and since I've used this stuff, I've not had one! Also regular exfoliation and moisturising does help

I know this makes people wince, but epilating works for me. The regrowth is really fine. I'm very dark haired and both stubble and regrowth ingrown hairs were awful from shaving. Waxing didn't work for me.

Trim hair very short, then epilating keeps me smooth where I want to be smooth.

A friend had this problem and when she switched from waxing to laser it got rid of them. My beautician says this is correct, but she also suggests sugaring instead of waxing.

Tight underwear doesn't help. Loose fitting boxers are what I wear a few days after shaving. But maybe that's not appropriate here

I can vouch for this too. If I shave I get bad ingrowing hairs and spots, but with magic powder I hardly get any.

I watched a view videos on how to apply it and most of the people were Black, American men saying that Black men have been using it for over 100 years because Black hair has a tight curl that often becomes ingrown if shaved. So they use it on their face instead of a razor.

"I've ordered the magic powder, can you use it EVERYWHERE on your foo?"

I use it for the whole area and have never had any problems with it unless I leave it on too long but even then I'll usually just have a couple of hours of tenderness. I try to make sure I use it the morning before play so that any sensitivity has gone, but I'm still nice and smooth Results only really last as long as shaving but it does leave a much nicer finish. I'd also recommend a hair tinting brush to apply it...easier to get into any nooks and crannys!

Can I suggest trying Magnesium Sulphate

( NOT sulfate) Paste, available from high street pharmacy for about £2, also good for removing splinters and used on boils too.

Sorry I deleted first post because of typos.

Hope it of use.

Grantham.

just stir so paste thickens ( I use a cotton bud so can use that to apply it to the skin) then cover affected area with it, use on dry skin and apply a plaster, I have used on my chin for ingrown hairs before and it worked a treat, also drew out a deep splinter in under an hour.

I had the mothers of all in growing recently, largely as I wasn't exfoliating - I had gotten very lazy over the month and just used my regular shower fuzzy sponge thing. I use the soap-n-glory 'sugar crush' lime exfoliator stuff (its the only man smelling stuff they do). Use it on dry skin, pre-shower or bath, and it works a treat.

"Does anyone know if an ingrown hair looks like a red spot on base of penis?"

they can appear anywhere you shave or wax I'd think - small red spots are usually just at the start of an in-growing hair. Larger red spots are if the hair is deeper with more skin covering it - mostly

It is one of the reasons why shaving is unhygienic and a potential entry point for STIs

Has he been leaving Imodium for you to find??

Or has he noticed?

Had a wife who did the same and like you she ended up with a Scabby Vagina, which sounds more awful than it looks!!

Your partner probably doesn't mind, he knows its not STD, or crisps...

BUT doing this swinging stuff... you cannot make a second first impression!!

If you saw a mans dick for the first time on a meet... and it was all scabby and he said, oh the scabs and bleeding is from ingrowing hairs, not STDS... what would you think/want/do next??

So, I suggest photos on your profile of offending vagina, and a Tattoo in clear Text (including welsh languages of course, plus polish and Urdu) Stating you have ingrowing hairs not a disease!!!

I think that's your easiest options...

BTW ex wife had this, so some is voice of experience, although we are now divorced.... so perhaps ignore me..

NOT that easily though, at least make it seem hard to dismiss me...

Magic powder is, as someone said, designed for facial use on afro-carribbean hair which is very prone to becoming ingrown because of the curl.

If you can get it get the Magic Powder Cream (yup, sounds wrong but it exists). It's premixed so is much easier to use. If you got powder it mixes best by putting in a small tub with some water, put the lid on and shake vigorously.

Also opt for the sensitive skin one, the smell is better as well as it being kinder.

The first time you use it use it for exactly the set time and no longer. If it doesn't get the hairs increase the time in small increments. It can burn if left on too long.

I have the same issue

I am waxed every 6 weeks but still get ingrown hairs....I use a mosituriser that reduces hair growth so can stay smoother for longer but still have scars from the one or two ingrown hairs every time.

This post has been quite helpful and will try some of the suggested ideas (other than growing it) next time I am waxed!

Bane of my life!

I get waxed every three weeks and my beautician is good. She will attack me with a pair of tweezers if she thinks she can salvage an ingrown hair.

She recommends gentle exfoliation every few days and waxing every three weeks. It's dramatically improved.

Get a product from boots called skin dr. Its liquid with salicylic acid in it which smells strong but is brilliant. My beautician suggested it. And also, wax rather than shave and think about what kind of knickers you are wearing. Siunds like pressure in the areas you said is what is contributing to it. Go commando for a while n see if that helps.
