Getting stood up

So you have a social with a couple, all goes well, you spend a few weeks chatting and arranging a play meet. All are extremely enthusiastic, but then you get stood up! Why? How hard is it to just send a quick message saying they've changed their mind?

They might have felt embarrassed about changing their minds. It's not always black n white, not everyone just says 'we're just not gonna turn up'

"How hard is it to just send a quick message saying they've changed their mind? "

Judging from the amount of times these posts appear, almost impossible. I do wonder why, in these days of instantaneous communication, it seems to be so difficult to drop a quick text along the lines of 'I've/we've changed our mind'. I have had a couple of texts along those lines and I've been fine with it. Better than being sat in a pub alone with people looking at me with sympathy.

Exactly. We're non pushy and friendly, we'd have been polite about the situation and stuff, we'd just rather know instead of traveling and waiting.

Maybe it was a fake profile? Did they have recent verifications? Had you spoken to them via webcam?

We had a social with them lol, they were eager right up to the morning of our play meet, then just didn't show or reply to messages, but had been viewing us on here around the time we were meant to be meeting, which is my point, if they had time to click on our profile they had time to say "sorry we won't be there " lol

Sounds like cold feet which must be embarrassing but they should have told you.
