Can anyone please advise me on a quick fix weight loss plan. (I fully understand that the sensible option is a healthy diet and regular exercise and gradual weight loss due to making healthy lifestyle changes ) I have been unable to do my usual exercises due to illness and have been comfort eating whilst at home resulting in me now being mega fatty. I am back to normal now hitting the gym and cutting out the junk food however I desperately need to shift some flab asap. Help please. Mrs massive and miserable. |

Speaking from experience quick fix diets dont work, I've done every diet going, loosing weight fast means not eating enough and eventually you'll need to start eating again and re gain the weight, the quicker you loose it the quicker you put it back on
Not much help I know but being realistic |

I'm really annoyed at myself for letting it get out of hand. I wasn't really slim anyway which was fine because I was more toned and liked my figure but now I just feel like a blob. Vicious cycle reach for the sweeties to console myself. Severe lack of will power of late. I need a large boot up the backside. |

Maybe try the 5/2 way of eating ?
You eat properly and normally for 5 out of 7 days and eat nothing or a very small amount of protein on 2 days out of 7. Obviously you have to drink, and preferably water. It doesn't matter which days you do what on, apparently.
Good luck.

Cut out carbohydrates from your diet. That includes alcohol. When you get down to your target weight then weigh yourself once a week. If you are above your target weight then diet for the week otherwise eat normally. Repeat for the rest of your life. Simples. |

Starving yourself will result in weightloss, but it won't be permanent.
I got to 16 and a half stone after i had 2 kids in a year, starved myself down to 12 stone in 3 months, started eating properly again and went back up to 14 stone in 2 weeks, but eventually am down to less than 12 stone with better eating for several years since then.
The quick way will work but not efficiently, obviously getting into better eating habits works properly, and even if it didn't at least you're treating your body right and looking after it in the way it deserves. |

Having lost the weight people often assume the job is done. Returning to the original eating habits will obviously result in the same weight gain rate as before. Once the weight is lost the maintenance diet begins ... and never ends. |

Shaz....
I have done the cambridge diet twice, first time i lost 4 stone from 17 stone to a more acceptable weight. Over 2 years i put weight back on, then i planned to get married and i was 15 stone and went down to 11 stone in 3 months.
Its 4 shakes a day....nothing else, i found it easy as i never had to think about what to eat or how much, it was hard going but the weight dropped off...i lost 10 pound in the first week.
It gives fast results but once you start eating normally the weight creeps on.
After illness i am now big again, im going to do it slowly this time and follow the slimming world plan xx |

Try a juice fast/diet...or the Atkins and carry on with it along with any kinda of physical excercise...I did it for 2 months and lost two stone, dropped 3 dress sizes just to fit into a bridesmaid dress...it crept back on over a year and I was back to where I started but I knew it would pile back on cos I lost it so quickly.. Quick fixes never work...make it a lifestyle change, little but regular weight loss is better overall!!! |

"The real answer is exercise .
You do know if there was a quick fix, every large lady in the world would be doing it right now "
It's not though. Losing weight is much more about what you eat than how much exercise you do. |

I am serious use the sacred heart diet, follow it day1 - day 7 you make a massive bowl of vegetable soup follow instructions, its not just soup but you never go hungry because the more veg soup you have the more you lose, i have lost over 20 ln in a month. I did a week on and two weeks off but eatting fairly healthy then a week on, no bull shit it works x |

I lost 13 kilos in a couple of months. I walked a lot more, cut out all bread and sugar except in unprocessed food, stopped drinking tea with sugar and ate a lot of salad, vegetables and fruit. No sauces,no fat and nothing made with flour except a little brown pasta now and then. I was surprised at how quickly I lost it. Meats were chicken turkey and tuna only,no red meat and nothing fried |

If you can afford it, I would strongly recommend investing in a coach that offers personal training as well as lifestyle and nutrition coaching. I wouldn't recommend cutting carbs, as you do need them in your diet. Cut down, certainly, but don't cut out. You can gorge yourself, as long as you are eating the right foods and making sure you know and understand what each food does to your body. I don't think any kind of crash diet is recommendable, because it's not sustainable. Processed foods are a killer- avoid at all costs.
You also need to develop a good understanding of how the body responds to certain type of exercise, and focus on strength and HIIT cardio, rather than pure cardio. You will find the cardio easier if you start out on them first. Best wishes x

It might also be worth trying to cut out particular food groups for ten day periods, to see how your body responds (for example, gluten, dairy, etc). You may find that a particular food group makes you bloated - I recently cut gluten from my diet and suddenly discovered I have cheekbones! What a pleasant surprise! |

It doesn't really matter what diet you do, it boils down to eating less calories than you burn off. The average person burns off about 1700 cals a day just living, light movements etc, more if you have a more active job etc. As long as you eat less than you burn off you are guarenteed to lose weight. You could eat 10,000 calories a day, as long as you burn off 10,001 it will go (all be it very slowly!) to lose 1lb of fat you need a deficit of roughly 3500 calories, so if each day you limit yourself to say 1200cals in food (carbs, no carbs, only chocolate whatever) then burn off 500 cals through exercise you should lose 2lb a week. All these fad diets (Atkins/juicing/slimming world etc) boil down to you having a lower calorie intake so its just about finding one that you can stick to |

Please please never ask for medical or nutritional advice from a bunch of numptys on the Internet, those who don't know what they're talking about will give it And those who do know, also known they can't recommend anything without knowing the ins and outs of your medical or dietary requirements and conditions..

Don't buy sweets! In fact, have nothing in the house which can be easily snacked on. If it's not there you can't eat it. |

You could always try to "eat clean". Keep meals as simple as possible, lots of steamed veggies(or salad), a small amount of potatoes and grilled meats for example. No sauces and no processed food.
Good Luck xx

This is true!! My son comes home from his dads every week with a bag full of junk sweets and chocolate!! More than any child should have in a month let alone a week. I always end up eating it! My willpower when it comes to kids sweets is non existant! |

Exercise is the best thing. I didn't change my eating much if at all and have been constantly down the gym. Now I'm slimmer and ive bulked up (which is what I wanted). Dieting is key but exercise regularly and that will beat any diet |

This is what I've done. Chicken, tuna, pork, green veg. Egg white omelettes. No spuds, pasta, bread etc. nearly 3.5 stone off in 5 months x |

No taste if served chilled, although not a particularly pleasant aroma. It's rather a thick liquid, so use a straw |

After turning into a Heffer myself a few years ago,the best advice the instructer in the local gym was,eat less and move more.Forget those fancy diets that make you ill or give you breath that would knock a Rhino out.He said gentle swimming or cycling at first then progress to extra 15 mins etc.He was right i lost loads but they only downfall was no boozing but you need to sacrifice.hth. |
