I think that should be good idea to have a godmother or godparent to the swing debute or introduction to the newbe.

It is the norm at Scottish universities. "Freshers" have a godparent from the third year students who show them round and generally look after them for the first term....not a bad idea.

if any newbies want a mentor I'm happy to offer my advice and vast experience.
