Why not try the kage on the last Sunday of the month.
There is a great event run down here but Derby is a little far... but it's very laid back .
Just as others have suggested look for munches... |

You travel around a lot.
In London you have London Alternative Market, and London Fetish Fair. Both on differing Sundays, both have after parties. Informative and fun, they have workshops and other like-minded people you can talk to.
In Birmingham you have BBB - Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar. Again, a very informative event, lovely people.
Google them all and attend them, you won't get much better insight into this truly diverse world. |

The right place |
Thanks for all the advise. I guess I was hoping for a more personal mentor type of deal.
I worked out what a Munch is. (Short for Burger Munch) basically a social for people looking to explore the scene. Which sounds ideal.
Next thing is to find out when and where they happen. |

There is a special site for BDSM and on this site the local munchies are all listed where and when.
It is the easiest way to get to know people without being stressed; to go to a club event might just be a bit too much for a start - okay most are tame, but some in London are hard core |

The markets are day events and no pressure at all.
Obviously depending on where you are in London, there is a local coffee meet at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex. There are bound to be closer ones to you.
You just have to find the right site and find them!! |
