Sexual health check

I've got an appointment at my local GUM clinic, I haven't got any symptoms or particular worries, I just thought I should get checked out.
My question is, as I haven't been before, will they check for a range of things or should I ask for particular tests?

Yes. Make sure you ask about hep b. Most people haven't had that course if jabs. I had as an ex serviceman but when tested I wasn't covered. Had a booster. Still not covered. Had the course again before I was protected.

It's always a good idea to request the full check, it took about 2 weeks for me to get my results back (all clear, woo!) but some places offer to text results but I think they're few and far between. |

Txt is good... I get my results in about 4 working days, I think..? Less than 1 week..! |

If your going to the clinic in Town they will ask you what you want, they are swing friendly, don't forget to get a supply of condoms off them, they will txt you the results |

Some clinics don't text you to give you the results well if you have the all clear the clinic I go to don't they believe no news is good news after about two weeks that is.
I get tested regularly there isn't much to worry about tbf |

See I like that little reassuring text that I get from my clinic saying all is good... Think without it I'd end up worrying that they had the wrong number or something  |

Thanks all. I went today and they were all lovely. I had a vague idea that they'd be judging me but not a bit!
Texting my results and now I'm happy to go every three months as recommended.

I went a couple of weeks ago and got the all clear text last Wednesday.
I didn't know about the hep b jabs, will have to look into those next time I go. how many jabs in the course and are there any side effects? x |

I had one today and have to go for another two, next wk and wk after.
Apparently I only needed them if I've had sex with a man who might have had sex with another man. Well, who knows on here so I thought it wise to go for it.
It lasts a year then.

I was recommended the Hep B vaccination by the Clinic Nurse, after I was tested and found to have no immunity. The course was 3 injections, I think - spaced several weeks apart. Think the rest is in 1 year...?
No side effects that I noticed. |

I was told today at our I.S.H. clinic that a booster is needed every 5 years.
O.p. just be honest tell them your a swinger there will be no judgement, as it will be your first visit I'm sure they would suggest a full screen.
In other news we were told during this visit that there is a large increase in couples getting S.T.I's especially those who have travelled abroad in the last 12 months. |

Ask for a full check. They'll check you for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, thrush, bacterial vaginosis, herpes etc etc. I was asked directly if I was a swinger, if I went dogging, to gang bangs etc etc. You won't be the only one. I was completely honest and open, tested for everything, including throat swab, and I'm really glad I did.
My tests were all negative which was massively reassuring.

Thanks for the info on the five year thing. Our clinic send text reminders for that too. There is quite a gap between injections so it's easy to miss it and have to start over. That's what my wife had to do. |

But how far do you go, I don't have sex with men but I do have sex with women who have sex with men who might have sex with other men. I did get a full range of tests. I just asked.
I didn't mean to say it lasts for a year, doc told me today I'll get a text message in 12 months to get the last hep b jab, then they wait 4 months to test to see if you're immune, ie if it's worked.

Ah right, so hep b jabs are for men who have sex with other men or women who have sex with men who might have had sex with other men. periodic full mot checks are a good idea, especially for things like chlamydia, which many people dont realise they have. hep B jabs are sensible too.
I had my hep B done because of work

It's best to have the full check regularly .
Safer and the nurse at the clinic I went to in Northern Ireland was very nice and non judgemental .
She gave me some good advice and condoms too .
The doctor was a bit shocked at a single lady on a swingers site but he continued in a professional manner and said he'd see me again soon for regular check ups !! |

And shitloads of free condoms. I went last month (they know me now). They normally ask how many sexual partners you have had in last 12 months or since last check. They have given up asking me now....first time I went I told them I didn't know but well into double figures. It never even raised an eyebrow.
Just go in with no fear....they do not judge anyone. |

We went a few weeks ago and my friends mum is the receptionist... She didn't even flinch!
They guessed we were swinging, really friendly, free condoms and a nice text 7 days later 
Personally think anybody swinging that doesn't get checked is pretty irresponsible! |

Full test, swabs, bloods, urine & Hep A & B.
Guys don't have the dreaded cotton bud thingy down the Japs eye anymore as urine test does the same thing, be honest about partners/practices so it make their job easier. |

That's the point.
Why should clubs demand health checks? It's not their responsibility- it's the individuals. A clear test is only valid til the next encounter. Nobody's sex life only revolves around a club.
Naive to think that if membership was granted upon proof of a clear test that there would be any change to levels of safety.

These countries like the States have data bases for the adult industry/swingers, the person is given a unique number that can be checked when shooting porn / using clubs etc.
It hides your identity whilst giving accurate up to date info on a person sexual health.

All clear at this end. Usually just ask to check for everything.
I do my tests after every encounter. I have to. I wouldn't meet someone else if i didn't take a test in between.
