Manchester and that's all you need to know |
I was interviewing for the best part of today and the last candidate left me embarrassed and nervous to say the least.
I asked him to tell me a little bit about himself and what he knew about the company. Before I knew it he's telling me how he adheres to company privacy policies etc and so on......Then boom, he tells me that he's recognised me from this website
So my question is, has anyone been in a similar situation? If yes what did you do about it? |

I'd say you should be worried if he isn't successful. If he has nothing to lose, then he may well blab...at least if he has a job to lose, you have a measure of control. He's already proved himself indiscreet by coming out with that information at the interview...you could at least then take him to one side and advise him it could cost him his job if he says anything else.
It's a really difficult call though...is he qualified and suitable for the job otherwise...? And how comfortable would you be with him around...would he be pestering you for a fuck all the time (he'd be clinically insane if he didn't want to fuck you, by the way).
Sometimes it's best to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Good luck with it anyway.

"did he get the job
I'm going to sleep on it and make my decision on Friday.
The thing is, do I need to worry if he's unsuccessful?"
Omg I read that as 'I'm going to sleep with him & then decide Friday' ~was going to add that wouldn't be a good idea.!!!!

How on earth does one guy being interviewed for a job recognise someone from a profile among 1000s of others on a website?
Did you interview him with just a bra on? |

Well you could have denied it but now youve mentioned it on here you cant as if he looks he will know its you.
Not worth the potential hassle in my opinion as you dont want anyone having the upper hand on you.x |

"Dont give him the job for sure. He might adhere to company policy but hes no idea of discretion! "
How exactly did he recognise you?
Were you wearing that very sexy white vest top again?
"Bang.... and there goes his chance for the job.... Being professional I wouldn't have mentioned anything if I had been him..."
An excellent point. If anything, he's proved that he can't keep his gob shut about confidential matters. Don't know what line of business your company is in, but that could prove rather troublesome in future.
"The thing is, do I need to worry if he's unsuccessful?"
"Oh no I wasn't thinking that he would harass me. I was thinking more along the lines of him telling my bosses if he didn't get the job "
1. Who do you think you're bosses would be more likely to believe? A valued employee or an unsuccessful job applicant
2. What you do in your private life is, well, private and should make absolutely no impact on your employment whatsoever. There are laws in place that protect you.
"Yes he's qualified and his CV stood out. If successful he would be working for me and I just don't want no trouble. "
But he has already demonstrated to you that he sees it as a way of manipulating you - potential emotional blackmail.
Sorry, but if I was in your position - he blew his chances as soon as he mentioned it.

Rather difficult situation, I would be worried that as he's working beneath you that he lacks a bit of respect?? If you denied it surely he would of noticed your discomfort and back off. Do you really want someone like that working for you?? Make up some random reason to be less smiley for a while and get your nails done!!! Good luck *hugs* x |

Surely any sane person would know that it's not appropriate to 'out' someone during at interview & that in doing so they're damaging their chance of employment.
I would have told them not to be so ridiculous & ended the interview quick smart. |

Yeah, definitely the thin end of the wedge if you employ him - cue more blackmail any time he wants something. Cover your tracks on here and he's got almost nothing on you. Your bosses/colleagues would be more likely to see him as being bitter at not having got the job (if he says/does anything at all)

Definately dont employ.
Delete this thread and then he has nothing over you.
Then all he has is - i saw her on a swingers site. Hide your pics for a while. Any employer worth their salt getting an email like that would reply with the fact that employees private lives are confidential and that your approach to showing adult content during an interview was deemed inappropriate.
Give hr the heads up that a) your not employing as he was not suitable and b) that he mistook you for someone on an adult site and started showing you images on his phone.
He should be grateful your not pressing harassment charges.
Utter tosser.

Top Tip! You don't really want unlucky people working for you. So why not get rid of all the unlucky people by throwing half of your pile of resumes in the bin?

How long has your profile been hidden for? If he can recognise you from your smile (granted if you had teeth like spongebob, he might) and your nails, then he really should be working for MI5.
If I was in this position the last thing I would be doing is firstly admitting it was me and going on to post and discuss it in the forums.
Sorry but I just don't believe any of it. And I doubt that anybody who is hoping to gain employment would even mention it either! |

"Ummmm OP was it a 1:1 interview? Most jobs have more than 1 person on the interviewing panel??
Also have you thought of implications it might have on you disclosing such info on a public forum before a decision had been made of who gets a job? Are you not bound by company confidentiality as to disclosing potential candidates info to the general public? Be careful it could be you on the loosing end in regards to confidentiality, data protection and equal opportunities if the guy decides to turn this around. "
She hasn't disclosed any personal information (i.e.) names or the name of her employer so will have breached no confidentiality rules, not data protection or equal opportunities laws.
In other words neither she, he, nor the company can be identified from the information that has been posted on here.
I spent a good deal of time in Civil courts over access to my kids - and Family matters are considered closed proceedings (obviously to protect children) and can not be discussed outside of court - however, certain details can be revealed by changing names to Miss A or Mr G etc. |

Other posters have given several valid reasons why this guy should not be employed.
However if I were your boss I'd be worried about you as a manager. Being phased by a potential candidate in an interview. Then posting on a website. Stupid and inappropriate. For those reasons I hope it is just a story. |

Just one question that bothers me.
How will her employers know she has posted her story here?
In fact, if it was a 1:1 interview, how will her employer know if she was or wasn't phased by an interviewee?
And like I said, even if said candidate / interviewee does try and give her some grief by running off to her bosses etc, who would they be most likely to believe?
A trusted, valued employee
Or someone who has just been turned down for a job for a valid reason?
And of course that person would be in very deep water i.e. sexual harrasment / blackmail and other such possible charges.
As I see it, OP has nothing to worry about

I agree in that I don't think the OP has anything to worry about . However she does need to go away and reflect on the decisions she has made and why. Speaking to a trusted colleague or friend about the issue would have been better. If the OP can learn from this experience she will hopefully make better decisions next time . |

I havn't had or given an interview in well over 10 years where its been one on one"
It depends on the sector and there size of the potential employer. Some interviews use panels, some smaller employers do still use one to one. |

Very true- you haven't got your company logo or anything posted on your nails ( 1 hopes). I wouldn't give him the job, if he then blackmails you into giving him the job, forward his details to the Police. No way in the world should the candidate be employed. It sounds like this person has been snooping and could be working up to some sort of blackmail. You can't have that sort of person working for you.

"May i ask did you interview him with your tits out? Reason i ask is you have no face pictures in your gallery.
Cheeky, he recognised my smile and nails. I denied it was me but when he pulled out his mobile and went to my profile I still had the same nail polish design on so what could I do.... "

OP to answer your quesrion...no never been in such situation. And from the many posts not many others have.
Some good responses though. My thoughts? You are on fabs, he is on fabs so the stakes are almost even. If you hire him I'd suggest asking for his username.
Good lick with your decision. |
