Step 1: get a mobile phone tripod and put the camera on a timer. This way your free to pose more and not worry about holding the phone.
Step 2: grab some house lamps and experiment with lighting. Eg, good use of side lighting and shadows accentuates muscle tone.
Step 3: have loads of fun
