Does anybody suffer from loneliness? It's so hard once ya get to a certain age to find people to socialise with. I find all
My vanilla friends are busy with family/ partners etc... I seem to have lost touch with people and wish I had a better social life. I think I sometimes use swinging as a way of finding something to do In an attempt to have an exciting life! Wish there were more social opportunities to meet folk without expectation... What do people do to expand social networks outside and inside of swinging. I have a mega busy schedule in the week and have no time week days or evenings which leaves only weekends. All suggestions welcome! |

i get the loneliness blues a lot, more so in the last year. been single for about 3 years (not that the last GF lasted that long) and before that i was alone for over 10 years.
But thanks to fab i can at least chat to people, now and then get a meet and at least keep the wolf from the door.
Find people to chat to on here, some of us are not just here for the sex, lol |

This is something I have been considering venturing into.
Ryan's lonely hearts club.
Basically, I turn up with a case full of goodies - cookies, Pringles, wine gums etc. we munch through these, whilst watching a DVD. I will give agreeing nods at the correct times when you are speaking, and infill with a few witty one liners.
This will be followed by some personal aftercare, before I pedal off into the sunset like ET and Elliot.
My strap line will be - give a lone my bone |

I know what you mean. All my vanilla friends are settled down with kids.
Nights out / shopping trips are getting less frequent so iv now started putting my name down for some of the social events on here. excuse to get dressed upmeet new pepple, chat, flirt, have a few drinks and end the night with a bit of extra fun if you like. |

I even go out to bars etc on my own sometimes! I'm a saddo. I find offers from men a hassle a lot of the time tbh. It's F friends I miss I think if I'm honest. Really wish there was a social network on here for (which I know there is for bigger main social meets) but I mean like smaller networks of people in same area who meet reg for non swinging things x |

Sounds like what a few people have said. I'm probably too far from you but I have organised several socials on here (in Malvern) and very successful. Some people come back for "more" but not everyone. ... You need a good local pub - and summer works best!! |

Yes sometimes, my friends are all settled with kids, coupled up etc I don't drive so I am a bit stuck in the arse end of nowhere.
My social life is based round the stables but would love to spend more time dolled up, wined and dined etc instead of smelling of horse. |

Although I am much older than you, I can sympathise with your feelings of isolation. I have recently joined a local group for over 50s that organises activities every weekend. I found it by going onto my council website and searching for clubs and societies.
Having friends is important for us all. Sites like this can help us meet new people and fulfil a need, but we have other needs that swinging meets are not likely to meet.
So maybe search through and see if there is anything that appeals to your interests. |

I am to some extent lucky in that I have remained very good friends ( seriously - friends ) with a very lovely ex member from the site. We go for meals, sit in at each others flats ( barely missed any episodes of strictly lol). And she is a proper masseuse too! I'm sure it will come to you all in time. |

I go down the pub by myself - its a lifeskill.
I'm also pretty sure that these forums have social events (although some are in swingers clubs) where the emphasis is on socialising. Some may have even been in Sheffield... |

I can sympathise with what you're saying. I get pretty lonely at times. More so in the evenings when the kids have gone up to bed.
My few friends are all married and busy with families and I've found I don't ever get invited out to functions anymore but read about what everyone else did on social networking sites
I don't have any friends in the swinging world so I don't get to socialise that way at all really. Unless I come onto fab and speak to people on here lol.
I need to learn to drive so I can get out a bit more and be able to go places |

I totally disagree,I a m 40 now , my son is nearly 16 my social life has never been so good,
Your best bet is to get friends in the same financial and family circle as yourself.
Get a gay man or a going out in public tranny . Your social life will never be dull |

I think our society is more distancing for people than it used to be. People working longer hours, further from work, possibly more part time jobs etc, whilst they're further away from family and older friends. As people get older it seems that friends do become harder to find and hold onto than compared, say, to tenns/twenties.
People need intimacy of various types, physical, emotional and revealing of their fuller selves. Good friends can support much of this.
I'd be wary of relying on shags as a replacement for friendships, and would aim to address the problem at source - aiming to find and develop friends, or spend time with people that I could be intimate with, on a non sexual level.
How you do this partly depends on you and your circumstances. I don't think it's easy for everyone, as many people are happy to be secure behind their closed doors at home. The basket weaving, or whatever the suggestion was above, highlights the potential for people with similar interests to get together and do stuff.
I'm perhaps a little too comfortable with my own company, and only infrequently feel lonely at all. |

Nothing wrong with going out by yourself. You get to meet new people. Downside is you're just leek to attract guys.
Don't know OP maybe you need to look at doing something sporty or hobby rather than fab / sex related if you're purely after friendship.
Good luck |

Everyone feels lonely at different times in their . We know quite a few people who entered swinging when a long term relationship broke up and ended up feeling even more lonely as their life became one of v short couplings, reading what youve just wrote id say for yiur own sake get out of swinging before you get stuck in it, Join a club, do a night class anything, youll meet people and make proper friends who appreciate tyoun for who you are. You know it makes sense you just want someone to tell you, Until then get a copy of "The Lonely Guy" starring Steve Martin, Well observed and makes lonliness seem funny, THEN if you need an excuse to get out of swinging id suggest you watch a film (controversial at the time) called "Looking for Mr Goodbar" it will confirm everything you already know,, shock ending and very stark but youll get the message it was made for women such as yourself ,, Good luck |

A few of us had a female only purely social meet a few months ago...someone just posted a thrwad and it went from there...only 3 of us actually turned up and we had a lot if guys trying to hijack it but we persisted and had a very pleasant afternoon just chatting and laughing about all sorts of stuff...which reminds me...must try and do it again soon...
You're in a great place to attract people from all over...why not try it? |

I think fabswingers is an excellent place to be when one is lonely. There's chat and webcam, the forum and then real life meets, both social and sexual. It's been good for me. The irony is not lost on me either. |

I tend to meet up for lots of socials with people on the site. Just for a coffee or a bite to eat if we are in the same area at the same time.
The socials can last anything from 60 minutes for a coffee, to three or fours hours if we go for a meal.
I quite enjoy the no pressure atmosphere when you know it's just going to be a social. |

Firstly try to ignore the mean and unhelpful comments on here. I don't understand some people's mentality, when they see a post like this and think it's ok to be nasty. Look around for things like tai chi, book clubs, courses for new skills/hobbies. That's what I would do. Not much help sorry.

Lonliness is just part of human nature. As a specie we are not meant to be alone. I busy myself all the time as I don't do bored but I still get lonely. I don't want nor need a relationship but the cold winter nights in a king size bed is a lonely place to be |

i dont get lonely very much as i like my own company.
plus i have a very solitary job, so im used to it now.
i dont socialise unless im with V as i dont like going to pubs on my own or very often.
its a state of mind.
if you enjoy your own company enough, you will never be lonely |
