Copy and paste messages

Do any of you other fabbers get annoyed with blatant copy and paste messages. Is it unreasonable to expect at least a little tailoring to show they have bothered to look at your profile??

But then it also pees me off when I get a message just saying "hey".

Am I being picky or do I just have a unreasonable expectations?

Opinions welcome, but please try to refrain from the usual bashing that some of those posting a question get, from the high and mighty pretentious few.

Thanks

Most couples and single women defend their right to delete a message without reading or replying so I am going to defend the right to copy and paste a message. Most messages are deleted anyway, many aren't even read so what's the harm. Someone's breaking the ice and saying they are interested in you (and 6,327 other women on this site), take it as a compliment. Think about the poor people who DIDN'T get the message....

"I had the same copy and paste 6 times over 2 days, blocked him in the end!"

I've yad that more than a few times too. I just block and forget about them.

What irritates me is the fact that despite my profile clearly saying I'm not interested in meeting anyone I still get 20 plus messages a day from guys who either couldn't be bothered to look, thought they'd chance it anyway or send c and p messages to every female within a 25 mike radius

Why not change your profile settings to show that you're not looking for men. Then you won't come up on their searches and you won't keep getting all those pesky messages

Hide your profile then it won't show up in searches, your friends can still message you.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

If I don't know its cut & paste I don't mind, but messages starting 'hey guys' (I'm single) or 'morning Samantha' (my name is not Samantha) get deleted. As does those walls of text starting 'we meet in a bar, you in your sexy black dress etc etc'.

The other thing I've noticed is people pasting their profile text into messages. I guess it saves time but its not very personal.

I agree, copy and paste is the way forward, what's the point of tailoring a message , it serves no purpose and wasted your time. The opening message is just a quick introduction anyway, what are you expecting

I never copy and paste but I can understand why people do.

It can be very disheartening when you put your soul into reaching out to people just to be consigned to the rubbish bin without so much as a "no thanks bugger off"

The cold hard facts of the matter is that ladies and couples probably get way more mail than they can reply to usually so it's the job application process and do you always hear back when you apply for a job? I'm guessing no.

It's a shame if people are deleting without reading tho as you might be missing out on some eloquence among all the vulgar one liners.

I can't see what's wrong with a 'Hi, how are you?' type, what I can't stand is the copied and pasted messages that have no baring on my profile. Eg. What are you looking for? All in my profile.

or the ...Any plans for the weekend? on Fridays, on Monday...Did you have a good weekend? arggggh or crazy 'individual' messages the writer thinks are fun and unique (not) If you were an animal what would you be? If you could be on a desert island which celeb would you want there with you? I cannot stand that type of crap.

More important to me that the message being written just for me is that the person has read my profile, seen if I'm looking for them. If they aren't no matter what the put it will be a waste of their time and mine.

Pretty much the same here...only time copy and paste bothers me is when they've not even bothered to changed who it's addressed to. I'd be more interested in the profile than the message most of the time anyway...a message or a wink just brings that to my attention. There is no perfect message and a lot get deleted so as long as an opening message isn't offensive or a detailed fantasy of theirs that I just can't be arsed to read then I don't really see the issue myself

I do try and appreciate both sides of the coin ... but as I've said before, a little bit of effort made ie reading my profile and composing a relevant message in response, will get a little bit of effort in return !!!

I think a message is just a way in you're right ... one of my best FB's just happended to have sent me umpteen copy and pastes and in the end I told him to read my profile and write me an original message ... this eventually resulted in one of the best meets of my life ... well up until then anyway !!!

I don't mind a copy and paste which they use as template and then amend to show they have had a quick read of your profile and it introduces themselves.

But it's the ones that are paragraphs long trying to be funny, or say they're unique and quirky or saying they want to do this and that to you, or even worse that "you don't know what you are missing" that annoy me.

Talk to me first and if we get chatting the naughty stuff will get into the conversation anyway!

Agree with all this.

I don't mind copy and paste messages at all. People rarely reply so I wouldn't bother writing a new mail very often. I send copy/ pasted mails sometimes because it's easier. And it works fine.

Closer than you think

I frequently write messages in response to status updates or specific themes in peoples profiles, but they do seem to get deleted without response just as often as more generic ones.

Conversely, generic ones seem to have a reasonable success rate. At least in terms of ongoing contact, if not actual meets.

The problem we find with copy and paste messages is they usually start with "I have read your profile" and then go on to explain all the naughty things we would get up to. It just shows they haven't read our profile and that the sender hasn't been honest. That however is just our experience.

Don't you think copying and pasting messages are even more hard work? I don't have the patience to select all the texts, copy it and then paste it.

I got quick fingers. I can type faster than all that.

"I don't copy and paste but at the same time i dont put alot in my first message if i get a reply then i put alot of effort in "

We don't send many messages out but when we do, we certainly don't c&p but we do at least TRY to attract someone's attention in the title, then mention one main point from their profile in a first message.

Following a reply, our second and subsequent messages mainly concentrate on the actual conversation taking place, then referencing other things in profiles may not actually be necessary.

We do seem to get replies to around 95% of our messages, so we must be doing something right.

personaly i usually write similar intro message letting myself introduced and so on.

i always read on the profiles, it takes 1 minutes (if someone has taken her/their) time filling it everyone should read it and know if i match or not in their needs.

In the same way that i like sending a personal message after taking my time knowing a bit more from the user and typing a polite and full of manners message, i find really rude and desconsideration when they delete it without a reply.

i have been said by too many users and sometimes even read the kind of message that ladies and couples u usually get (like "lets fuck" "im horny do u like cock..." and so on that u all can imagine)

so, its hard for s single guy get respect due this timewasters and pichunters, so, if i would be a girl or a couple and i would get a message where someone is nice to me, even i dont fancy IT JUST TAKES A MINUTE TO SAY NO THANKS.

Is that a big effort?

I can see why people do it. There are women on the site that say they get 50 messages a day or so and they do not read all of them.

It feels pretty crap when you read the persons profile, look at what they are looking for and if it matches you, you decide to type a message only for it to be deleted and probably not even read.

I just try to strike a balance now, something that shows i have taken a minute or two to read the profile and then type a short message.
