I found it painful the first couple of attempts we had , but I was determined to find a way!

Try opening up a bit with a toy first...there are some anal training toys that are basically a bigger butt plug. I have a Doc Johnson one which has made anal much easier and more comfortable - as well as a lot more enjoyable!

Some sensible posts here.. Own experience? Most ladies seem to prefer being "warmed up". Start with good oral and finger work on vagina. If you can take your partner up to the point of gushing then plenty lube there.
Move along the perineum and ensure lubrication is spread. Rimming is good if you are both ok with that - fingers and toys can also help.
For entry , at least first time, lady on top with her back to you. Allow her to control entry - then relax! Leave it a moment or two. I am utterly astonished at some of the messages on here.
Without a very good and appropriate lube, plenty of play to relax the sphincter muscle then there is a real danger of tearing. And with that comes the risk of infection.

Try on your side, with your knees curled up (foetal position). this allows good penetration along with ease of access.
As for lube????? use a good waterbased one, and lube up well before hand...take time to ensure you are slippery enough and there should not be to much pain.
