...why a 18 - 22 year old man would be interested in a 45 year old female ? (or vice versa)
I'm not saying anything against it, if that's really what you want, go for it, I just don't understand it. At 18 there isn't a chance in this world I would want such a huge age gap.
Just curious, I seem to have been getting an awful lot of under 22 year olds messaging me lately, and to be honest with most I feel I would have to be asking them for photo ID and passport before sitting down for a cuppa with them - not exactly a lustful start to a meet!  |

sounds like you need to set your age filters and alter your message filter so only rhe age your interested in can mail you.

its because very young men are hornier you should feel flattered 
I get messages from young men its just a bit of fun, i dont want to meet them all, they wouldnt always be my type anyway.
its only sex, maybe different if you were in a realtionship. |

Years ago was out in town this very nice young lady kept coming over chatting etc i thought at first it was a wind up and half expected her mates to laugh at the old fart chatting their mate.
I saw her for 6 months and was a good period of my life we got on really well and the age thing whilst at first was odd it faded i was 40 her 19.
A case of enjoy the moment and if you hit it off who xares about how society views it.
My daughter is 30 her hubby 50. |

Not sure why but it is quite common for younger lads to like us more mature women. I'm 44 and my fb is 32. I think that's about the limit for me. 18 - shudder!!  |

The truth is when we're at that age we like to try for the older women because many of them are very flattered and therefore more willing. The old "I much prefer mature women" usually does the trick.
We would then go to our mates and laughingly say "You'll never guess how old the bird was I pulled last night?"
Of course that was then. Things may have changed. |

I won't meet young men simply because I don't believe they will actually want me and it's more a holes a goal mentality... So if s young fit guy messages me I quietly pass them by. |

I don't think it's anything about being taught, or hoping that an older woman will be flattered (I actually find it a bit off-putting when they're over-complimentary/appreciative!) for me personally. I just find women of different ages attractive for different reasons.
After all, to put the shoe on the other foot: Jon Hamm's 42, and I definitely know girls my age who have told me they fancy him. Likewise, there a lot of gorgeous women in that same vintage! |

This isn't going to be the most popular post but...
The reason is, many men want sex badly and struggle to get it. At clubs, its actually not as easy as people make out. Even here, you do not just get sex... You have to work at it.
However, it is easier to chat up older ladies and the success rates are a lot higher.
A friend from here only goes for older women because he finds them a lot easier to catch. In clubs, he's always trying to het the stunning 20 year olds but he never pulls it off!
Not the most popular answer I know, but I believe this to be the answer.

Your wrong, many younger like older and vice versa, hence there are inter generadtional, sex and dating sites. |

Thanks for the replies guys, it was just curiosity due to the number of message I was suddenly getting. For those saying set filters, I wasn't actually complaining about it - I tend not to say "no" to any idea until I have tried it (ahem), it's just something I don't understand, simple as. I guess it's a case of asking as each person will probably have their own answer in the end.
Gotta say though, thats what I like about this site - the acceptance that everyone is different, without judgement and the ability to explore as "dark" a side as you wish... or dare....  |

Interestingly (or not), my mate who is a couple of years younger than me and also quite well-off hangs around with a lot of these 20-something girls, and I find I either have nothing to say to them or, those that I get on with am just not attracted to, in spite of them being physically stunning or whatever. I have always been drawn to women older than myself, and it really isn't because I 'can't get' the 20-somethings, I dont want them. |

I met an 18 year old once in my early thirties he's 28 now and I still get together with him, but that was an exception wanting to try some one younger.
I personally couldn't see some one that young now. But wouldn't judge others who do |

This applies both ways - I would not - as a rule - have enough in common with a man this much younger - I have not met anybody for whom I would break my rule of not going below 30  |
