No not safe at all, from the herpes virus, and its catching,
but if its going to happen anyway buy some of those clear cold sore plasters about £3 i bought some a couple of week back, you put over the cold sore so not exposed x |

I think it's a time of year type of things, the dark nights come in, we get a bit depressed and worn down by the increasingly worse weather. Then the cold sores kick in. It's normally around now when I get them, rest of the year touch wood I seem to be okay |

Actually HSV-1 and HSV-2; absolute no; individuals with herpes should abstain from sexual activity with partners, unless already infected, when sores or other symptoms of herpes are present.
Symptoms include blisters around the mouth, genitalia or anus and/or flu-like symptoms (such as fever, body aches and swollen glands).
It is important to know that even if a person does not have any symptoms, he or she can still infect sex partners as the body will secrete viral particles before blisters appear c.f. most viral infections; 'common cold', chicken pox etc.
Sex partners of infected persons should be advised that they may become infected and they should use condoms to reduce the risk.
Legal precedent already allows successful prosecution and jailing of individuals who have passed on HIV, knowing that they have the infection to uninfected sexual partners whom they have not informed, the same precedent could be applied to HSV.
Remember, HSV is like a dog; not just for Christmas.
