Blocking a nuisance

Hi I just thought I'd pass on something I've just figured out.

I've been getting nuisance messages from a woman that would send me messages and then block me.

I was under the impression that because I couldn't click the block button on her profile (clearly cause I couldn't view it) that I was going to have to put up.

Anyway I took a look at the block list under my account and there's a box you can type in someone's username to add them to your block list. The person is now blocked, can't send you any messages and you didn't need to use the button on their profile.

I'd just like to add that I reported this person twice through admin and still had the abusive emails in my in box but never heard anything back which I was very disappointed about.

you can also block a user through a message they send even though they've already blocked you

If you had mentioned this in the "help" section, you would have been told this a long time ago

Well first couple of abusive messages only came through a couple of day's ago and she blocked me so I hoped it would be the end of it.

Then I woke up to even more this morning. After what she's been like in the past I knew it was only going to keep on happening.

Now that you mention it there is a button on the message DOH.

As for posting it earlier in the help forum I probably would have eventually if I hadn't sorted it myself or got pointers from admin but having reported her twice on both occasions explaining the situation it would have been nice to get some sort of message or direction.

From the FAQ's on site

You don't respond to any of our mails.

We do this for fun and get hundreds of mails a day so we can't respond personally to questions about the site or your account. We recommend if you have a problem or can't figure out how something works, you post to the site help forum. If we responded to everything that people sent us, we'd spend all our time (and more!) doing that and not improving/running/fixing the site. Or, we'd have to employ customer service goons to read and respond to questions from a minority of users at everyone's expense and we'd not be able to do as much as we can for so little cost to you. We do read all mail you send and encourage feedback. If you have reported a problem with the site we will fix it.

There is another block button. When you open a message to read there is a box that you can tick labeled "Also block user" tick this then "goto next unread message" and hey presto, they're added to your Block list.
