Its hidden from search, but if people see your name as in this post you can still click on it and see public photos.
same goes for verifications, if you in someones hotlist etc |

But when you get the "member has hidden their profile" message the menu options to message / wink etc are still there in the grey bar above on the mobile site or the blue bar on the left on the desktop site |

hiding profile is one option or if your just taking a break and don't want to contacted leave profile visible and put this in your heading. |

Hide your profile AND set stringent filters. That way you can truly take a break and not receive any contact. |

Your profile is hidden but I can still see your public pics on my laptop. When i've had a break and not wanted to be contacted I've hidden all pics, even friends ones and changed filters so that no one can contact me. |

Because some think they will be the exception to the rule! Just ignore/delete them if you're not interested.
Maybe put all your pics into private though too as can still view your public pics from the menus |
