I only wear steel bone corsets nowadays, as plastic bone ones bend too easily.
I was measured by the experts at Fairygothmother in London, and bought a Revanche de la femme (RDLF) corset from them.
My second one is Voller corset bought directly from them.
Both are short on the body with a sweet heart neckline that is more suitable for those with bigger busts.
I wear these two when comfort is the primary consideration, as I can wear these for hours.
For my "play" corsets are not so well made compare to my "comfort" corsets, as they are longer on the body, and can dig into my thighs. They were purchased from Corsets UK.
However, they were significantly cheaper compared with my "comfort" corsets due to Corsets UK's 3 for 2 promotions. The cheapest one was about 25% the price of one of my comfort corsets!
Therefore, I would recommend Corsets UK's offerings for fun use when they are not expected to be worn for a long period of time.
For comfort and quality, try Voller or RDLF or other brands on offer at Fairygothmother.

"I like What Katy Did for corsets. Can't afford them, but they truly are beautiful. They are online, or have a shop in Camden. "
They are gorgeous but yes a bit pricey to get all messed up |

Honestly - get fitted for it. It will cost you a little extra, but will save you oh so much time and trouble later on.
Getting fitted is an experience in it's self.
Go on you know it's worth it! |

I got my first corset that really fitted me at Erotica, corsets uk were there and measured and fitted everyone there and then. I got a cheaper corset but it fits brilliantly and is so comfortable.
Erotica is a great day out too!

"Last time I donned a corset.. I do love then... My ribs where soooo painful for two days after ... I wondered if it was worth it!"
You need to work up to a tight lace, if you dont wear a corset regularly then pulling the lacing tight straight away is bloody painful.
If its a public social, start wearing the corset for about an hour a day for the week before. Tighten it to your comfort. Each day wear it for slightly longer, you'll find you can tighten it a little further. Once you get to around a 2 hour wear at the hour mark you should be able to tighten it a bit further. Do not overtighten! You'll be surprised how curvy you'll be after a week.
Always make sure you eat before wearing too. |

I was advised by the ladies at Fairygothmother to put the corset on and tighten sufficiently for at least 30min before final tightening, to allow the body to get used to the restriction first. |

just my bit of advice , try wearing the corset not fully tightened for an hour before full tightening , it helps all the bits inside decide on best position , also starts to gentily bend the floating ribs ,
ohhh have you tried a waist trainer to get your ribs adjusted a bit xx

"Isn't it a bit difficult to get into one on your own !!"
quite easy to put on if you invert the bunny ears , so you only have to reach 1 spot the top pulls down to the middle and the bottom pulls up to the same middle bunny ears , xx |

Wow, glad I found this thread. Thinking of starting to use corset. Never got into it, sadly I have no waist..
Will check out all the said above.. I sort of have a long-ish torso, so was planning to find a long one, now thinking maybe should get properly fitted.. |

I lost my waist years ago but if you look at my photos with corsets on you can see they have found it for me! I bought mine from corsets-uk, I think they're brilliant, well made, not at all expensive, mine were from £20 to £40, all steel boned. Have a look in their sale section and corset of the day section for really good deals. They also have a section that tells you how to measure yourself to get the right size. |

Can't beat vollers for good advice.
They've been making for generations and also custom make. Not cheap but incredible quality and all steel boned which makes a hell of a difference - plastic boning loses it's shape and digs in, so uncomfortable.
They have a measuring guide on the website but are happy to offer phone advice and because they've been doing it so long they are spot on!
Just either ask for it to be laced or make sure you get the lacing instructions - you need to have the loops in the middle to be able to tighten it correctly. And you can learn to lace yourself, though a friend can be handy. And if wearing to a club a lot of the ladies know about corsets and most would be happy to help you adjust. |
