we have just noticed the new home page thingy and on there it tells you if ppl have put new pics on. if ppl want to put new pics in private can ppl still veiw them on the home page thingy

The clue is in the title “Gallery of newest PUBLIC photos”

Private pictures are PRIVATE and FRIENDS only pictures are just that, for friends only.
