hi there, i am thinkin of starting having small parties in my home, prob bout 4 couples each time, i would be sooooooooooo grateful for any tips, ie...music, food, etiquette.....thanx xx  |

We have been hosting parties for a few years now. On the whole, food.... is not what people are coming for. You wont want to be clearing it up at the end of the night, and if it's a good party you deffo wont want to be clearing it up in the morning! Drinks... ask people to fetch their own... you are opening up your home to them, and why should you pay out to get the drinks in?
Ettiquette.... thats a harder question... it's your home so you make the rules.

I think its great you're planning this. I would love to do it but don't have the space. How are you going to choose the couples to invite? That would worry me more than the domestics. |

How about a plate of baked beans to go with the pickled onions? ......... Not!
On a serious note, definitely think about who you would let into your home. I wouldn't accommodate as you never know who will start howling at midnight if there's a full moon

Every once in a while we have a party
We always put on a finger buffet (no jokes please)
We always supply alcohol and soft drinks
We are the hosts and we like to take care of our friends/guests, we believe that if it's our party we should "push the boat out" and expect some cleaning up and expense.
Music wise we have a large selection, we also supply a large quantity of lighters (these always get taken cos these always get lost) and we also supply lube and condoms.
We would never charge entry fees to our parties.
I think this coupled with other replies on here shows that it is up to the host as to just how much they do and and don't do.
Do what you feel happy doing then you will enjoy the party before, during and afterwards.
Putting breakable ornaments away is always a wise move and plenty of ash trays in the smoking area.
As to the who you invite, we have been running a small guest house for people visiting local swing clubs for 9 years now and in all that time we have never had a bad guest, they have always been respectfull, perhaps we are lucky but I cant imagine us being that lucky, I just think 99.9% of swingers are respectfull people. |

Music? Choose according to the ages of your guests but background only. Often a MOR radio station is best.
Food? Nibbles.
Drink? Provide soft drinks. I don't provide alcohol so people wanting to drink can have the bevvy of their choice.
Etiquette? Choose your guests well and this won't be an issue. They'll behave as if they were at home. |
