I have a benign enlarged prostate that is causing me some issues serious enough for me to consider doing something about it.
Has anyone here had the Green Light Laser Proctectomy? If so, what were your thoughts on it?
Many thanks. |

Hi OP...
Well done for sharing publicly regarding the prostate problems..
As someone who underwent radical prostatectomy back in 2014, following a diagnosis of prostate cancer, following increasing psa tests..
You have options my friend, but I would strongly suggest talking to your local urology dept...where options can be explained and if time is on your side, I would suggest taking your time in deciding.
I often think, did I make the right decision and the truth is I will never know, however I am still alive and that's what counts...
Good luck with the journey..talk with the professionals. |

Many thanks for your reply.
I have previously been seeing the local urologists who discharged me without notice because my Prostate is merely enlarged.
I have been re-referred, but thank you time is on my side. |

I had mine lasered about 12 years ago, after a bit of bleeding and passing a few blood clots it was fantastic. The procedure was painless (epidural) just a word fluttry sensation as the laser fired.
Recently the symptoms stated to come back and my doc sent me to see a consultant.
He put me on the waiting list for a repeat and prescribed Finestride to try and reduce it in the meantime. What he didn't tell me was that the Finestride would completely kill my libido so I stopped taking it but my mojo didn't return.
Someone told me about Cialis Daily and a side effect of that is reducing an enlarged prostate.
After talking to my doc (she couldn't prescribe it because our local NHS won't pay for it) I got it on a prescription from Dr Fox.
It cost me about £20 a month but it sorted my mojo out and when the hospital rang to give me an appt I've delayed it for 6 months because the symptoms of the enlarged prostate are gradually going away. |

Do not delay the appointment as you may run out of time for any options that they can give you.
Get I there and get sorted as soon as possible

Although the operation can be repeated there is a minimum time you have to wait between them. It makes sense to delay it and as the symptoms are reducing slowly with the tablets I can't see the point of having surgery if I may not need it. The consultant agreed it would make sense to wait and see if the improvement continued |
