If you block someone, does it block you from seeing their posts and vice versa?

Asking because we see certain threads which wholly creep us out, and really don't need to see the things these people are saying.

I can see why this site has gained a reputation as being a haven for a certain type of undesirable character with the regularity of these threads I doubt they are fooling anyone about their true intent, however, I also understand they are so very difficult to moderate as the people don't use direct language. But we would prefer to not see them.

It stops people seeing your profile and being able to message.

You still see them and their posts in the forum.

Some don't even bother to hide. Some are truly horrific.

Fortunately we haven't come across anything too direct yet but its still pretty grim to know what they are saying and meaning by it

It is certainly making me avoid the forums more since returning to fab!

Fortunately the report button seems to work well.

Also, if you can bear it, some threads are a great way of blocking pre-emptively so as to avoid contact with folks whose views you may find distasteful.

Even on the more 'subtle' stuff? that is good to know, I will use that!

Good thinking, I never thought of it like that!

And you can leave a note on their profile saying why you blocked them. Unfortunately you have to unblock them to read it, but it's handy to have as you can't always keep track of the wrong 'uns on here.

Not sure about the "subtle " stuff. I've only used it a few times for the more extreme. But not seen them since.

I'm pretty sure you can still access the menu for the private notes tab from the blocked page. You might not be able to view it exactly, but it shows you the current text in case you want to edit it.

Apparently my site supporter has run out so I can't check that. But I believe it's the case on mobile at least 💜

Oh, yes, you can. Just popped on an anti Vax thread and I can view the notes without looking at the profile. Thank you for that!

If it's the topic of whole threads I'm unclear why you click into the thread

I don't go into ones/sections of the forums that don't interest me

If something is bad then just as with a profile you can report it

Admin do review

You just don't get an update on any outcome

O o O oo

If you report the threads you think are breaking rules it will be looked at. If it doesn't break rules the only option is to not click on the threads that the person has started or if the subject is not to your liking.
