Sex with protection, oral without…

The ph environment of the mouth is different to the vagina (7 Vs around 4), which is going to affect how STDs (among other infections) thrive. You are more likely to get affected through vaginal sex than oral. Obviously oral sex is not risk-free, but a lot of people don't like the taste of condoms (even the flavoured ones) and, despite the risks, they choose to engage in unprotected oral. The risk of getting STD via unprotected vaginal or anal sex is higher, and therefore more people choose to have protection when having full penetration. |

I know, but can’t imagine oral with a condom or dam is very pleasurable. Leads me back to my original thought, if using condoms for sex but then doing oral without protection is pointless 🤔 |

Oral sex is the least risky for transmission of all STDs, followed by vaginal then anal, so many go without protection for it. Also, the incurable STD, HIV/AIDS, is not transmitted via oral sex.
However, there is still an appreciable risk of getting gonorrhoea, chlamydia, and syphilis via oral sex, which is heighteined if you receive cum in your mouth like many people do. So protection is definitely not pointless for oral.
I occassionally use it for oral and always for PIV, regardless of whether I have recent test data for my partner. STD testing can be innaccurate due to false negatives and having sex just once after having a test invalidates the results entirely. You have to also be cautious about trusting people's word.

I have had guys try to convince of this all the time ...
But the fact is that oral is far less of a risk that full sex... so no.. its not pointless at all
Ive been a swinger 30 years, I do not use condoms for oral but will always use condoms for meets

Is this correct ? I thought that a neutral pH would better support infection than an acidic environment ? I’ve just done a little research which suggests this to be true? |

It seems to be true about sexually transmitted infections. They probably need different conditions to a common cold, for example. I am no expert, just going by the data available to anyone. Also, even forgetting about STDs, I don't want to get pregnant and the chances of that are near zero when using condoms. |

Yes no expert either, it just seemed counterintuitive that vaginal pH being acidic would be a more conducive environment than a fairly neutral pH mouth. As far as data, in a quick search around, I found that the opposite to what you suggested to be true. I didn’t look at too much data! |

If you take a look at the LGTB+ community, they are commonly using Doxycycline to reduce STI infections in addition to Prep to remove risk of HIV. For oral sex Doxycycline (Doxypep) seems to make a lot of sense. Just take one 200mg dose up to 72hrs after the event and that will heavily reduce the chances of contracting syphilis, chlamydia, and to a much lesser extent gonorrhea.
Just don't take it every day (which is mainly why it is not prescribed in sexual health clinics in the UK as taking antibiotics daily is a massive no-no, whereas occasional one-off doses shouldn't cause issues), and stay out of the sunlight. |

I caught gonarhea purely from receiving oral. She had no idea and had no symptoms. I told her to get checked out, and until it was confirmed was in denial.
Oral definitely is not risk free, and I’m still very wary receiving oral that is unprotected.

The risk is actually higher for the insertive partner in oral sex. There is a 40% chance you'll catch it if the other person is infected.
Were there any signs she may have had the STD e.g. high number of meets, frequent engager in unprotected sex? |

I wonder as I've been doing gangbangs for decades and keep my sexual health in a very good state. Probably get checked way more than many people..ni use condoms for sex but not for oral x |

Well if you've met with 10 people the past month, your chances of having an active case of gonorrhoea, chlamydia, etc are higher than if you've met with only 1 person the past month, assuming random sampling.
Also have to factor in that some of these STDs are asymptomatic for some people but trigger reactions in others. If you don't test and have had a long swinging career, you might be incubating an STD.
I'd be suspicious of someone with dozens of meets who doesn't express an interest in sexual health, especially if they play bare. |

i tend to meet more than 10 in one go... I also am very proactive on my testing and sexual health.
I am at more risk of catching something than a guy is from me... we were told that at our last clinic appointment. We were having an extra set of tests to our normal ones as someone we had met had contacted us as they had tested positive.
We were told Mr was very unlikely to have caught anything from her giving him oral...
We both tested negative but went through 3 rounds of testing before playing with others again
To be fair I'm probably well into the thousands with sexual partners over my 30 years of swinging... but have never caught anything... but i don't do bare... I always get tested regularly and I don't take many guys cum in my mouth and only my own partner cums inside me

Like, sometimes I'm a little tired when I drive to work and my reactions aren't as quick as normal. I guess if I'm already taking that risk I may as well get smashed off my tits and drive blindfolded without a seatbelt.
People choose the level of risk they're happy with. All or nothing is rarely a sensible approach to safety 💜 |

There’s never been a PROVEN RECORDED case of HIV from oral sex. We simply don’t know.
In my experience less than 1 in 20ish people use condoms for oral. A lot of us suck cock because we like having someone cum in our mouth. |
