Wanted to see if we'd missed something.. 🤞

Our logic is we're potentially twice as likely in catching we'd caught something, so to speak.

We both do full tests (oral, anal, genetalia and blood) as often as the 'services' allow but alternate when we do.

Test kits are available every 3 months, by staggering our testing ie 6 weeks apart we're basically as a couple testing twice as often..

We only have unprotected sex with each other, so if one of us was to contract something we'd likely both get it, but have to wait 12 weeks to find out..

Please tell us we're not crazy (on this logic at least) 😜👍

We don't stagger our tests , but we get what you are saying

As we speak , you've given us a timely reminder to order 2 tests x

Your basic logic seems sound to me. Staggering the testing makes sense.

Genius idea and actually something we did before covid. When we started meeting again it somehow fell by the wayside.

Thanks for the reminder

The staggered tests are a very good idea to shorten the odds.

Both of you are still testing at the same intervals but by staggering the tests it does give better coverage.

Where are others getting their test kits from?

Not cheap ordering from amazon.

I can see where you're coming from here and makes logical sense than both testing at the same time

May we ask where you get your testing done please? (We have been looking into ordering testing kits rather than having to go in person but are unsure which are good to use, reliable etc)

For postal kits, google your NHS area and ‘postal sti test’ or similar, as it varies massively by postcode. Be aware though, that these are usually the ‘bare minimum’ tests - if you want anything more (eg throat/rectal swabs and wider infection testing) you’ll need to buy privately or plead your case in person at your local NHS test provider.

We get ours from sh:24 the NHS provider but they don’t provide for oral swabs ( certainly not in our area) Is there another source for the full test kits that we are unaware of?

Depending on how you answer the questionnaire, it will dictate what tests you get. if you don't answer certain questions they will just send basic tests but if you say you’re engaging in more risk taking activity (even though you’re not) you should get a wider range of tests.

We’ve been doing this when we’re sexually active for many years and your logic is perfectly sound

Thank you all for your feedback! 😘

We use SH:24 (area dependant as we're aware)

D however found to get all tests he logged as both male bisexuals and then altered the urine test for a vaginal swab for me.. 👍

Somewhere

I get what you're saying, but also think it's pretty pointless? The whole point of 3mth testing is that it's the 'window' for testing. So, one of your could test neg within a staggered 6wk test, but the other could test pos at 14wks. Better to test together and keep within a sexual window so to speak

Can't follow the logic there, according to the clinic we've used most STDs have a 2/3 week incubation period..

wonderland.

We get tested much more often... by using the drop ins.

We get the original post though. We normally stagger ours.

Biggest issue we have is getting the throat swabs x
