If it was a message block it will lift after a couple of hours. It's nothing to do with being international as far as I'm aware because we've exchanged messages with people from USA and Europe with no problem

Honestly, it seems not so much other sites poaching Fab member's but Fab pushing away the genuine one's.. Numbers mean nothing.

GONE/TIMEOUT (No DMs please)

It can be triggered by innocuous things like key words, or sending a lot of messages in quick succession, or copy pasting messages to several people, or of course someone reporting you.

Don't let it get to you, just bear in mind when sending messages.

Actually! And we'll hold our hands up it was a discussion regarding the scene in the US.

They mentioned Fab being "dead" over there and we mentioned 2 other sites we were on due to our desire to meet internationally.. Make's sense in hindsight, but ridiculous nevertheless. May just put the effort in the other sites 🤷🙄

So, you've mentioned other sites, which is against site rules, and then you complain?

Yes it is! No other operates the same policy to our knowledge.. So free speech in private conversation, then monitored and penalised is cool? Wow, all hail Korea 🤣

No such thing as a private pm on a website, Admin can always read them.

And by banning mention of said site, they can say they are doing their bit?

As UK laws have tightened recently and allowing discussion can be seen as enabling, and site owners would be legally liable....

The wierd thing is it only seems to be swinging sites that do this.

People don't get banned from Piston heads for linking to the Vauxhall Owners Club site.

The Online Safety Act 2023

(Taken from the UK government site)

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/online-safety-act-explainer/online-safety-act-explainer#who-the-act-applies-to

"The Act requires all companies to take robust action against illegal content and activity. Platforms will be required to implement measures to reduce the risks their services are used for illegal offending. They will also need to put in place systems for removing illegal content when it does appear. Search services will also have new duties to take steps to reduce the risks users encounter illegal content via their services."

Unless you are suggesting that competitors are hosting illegal content which seems illogical given that they are often subject to more stringent terms and conditions imposed on them by the various online marketplaces then that would seem to suggest Fab would be liable for nothing.

Consider that you're expecting Fab to stand the cost of competitor's services being covered/promoted. That's unfair and unrealistic. Any business can of course impose terms of use that it wants to deliver services to. This is especially reasonable, when it's not charging you anything for using its services.

I think this is known in the trade as “my trainset, my rules”

And unlike a train station, there’s no need to announce your departure

Actually it is in the reverse. We mention clearly on both alternatives sites "Same name on our Fab profile, with more verifications there"

Also Incorrect, Fab is actually the only one of the 3 we have paid for.
