Other than pineapples and pampas grass what are they
I saw a badge claiming to be the official symbol of a red background with a black "swing"
Would anyone know what this is if they saw someone wearing it ? |

pineapples and pampas grass are not signs of swingers and nothing is nobody wants to be advertising your a a swinger 24/7 ... just think of all those unattractive men pestering you
its men who try to invent these signs but they never work for a reason and that is women and couples are just not interested |

Does it matter? I find it a bit creepy when people I meet in vanilla settings tell me about their "lifestyle"... Surely there is either a mutual desire to fuck (or gossip about fucking I guess) or not? |

Well we're interested, and upside down pineapples is definitely a thing, maybe a bit of a joke thing but very much a thing I'm gran Canaria.

Heard it all.
Pineapples, pampas grass, anklet
bracelets, black ring on right hand, plastic flamingos on the lawn etc etc etc.
Its all fantasy and hear say.
If you want everyone to know you are a swinger, you'll let them know. If you don't and want to keep.it private as many really do, you will.

We have an upaide down pineapple sticker on the car. A few of the people we know at clubs have them too or a pineapple in the window.
Flamingoes are a symbol too we have been told. |

"Just got a pineapple necklace for the wife.
Not upside down though, so waiting to see if she gets any attention wearing it at work. "
-------------------------------
Isn't it just inviting attention from people you don't want attention from? |

Poor men get the blame for everything
To the OP I have only heard of the pampas grass and upside down pineapple. Does anyone know why it is upside down? |

We have been wearing these for about 3 years - the background colour is irrelevant - I have a cut one and my husband has a silver on black background.
I wearing mine in a few photos in my profile.

According to one source it started on cruise ships - levels where marked by fruits Apples. Oranges Lemons Pineapples etc and then your room number. Kind of an easy way to remember your way around the ship.
Apparently a few people who where 'swingers' before they knew it was swinging turned the pinapple sign upside down on their cabin to let the other people they had spoken too, help find them.

Not so. Mine has attracted the beginning of a swingers chat quite a few times. In Spain. France and the UK. |

There's no official sign because there's no official United Nations High Office for Swinging Affairs. No agreed convention on signs, silently after so many threads about this
Most swingers see no value in advertising it publicly to vanillas and swingers, just to grab the attention of a minority of swingers. If we saw swingers advertising it publicly, we would stay way clear of them, since obviously they would not be strong on discretion. |

You mean like wearing an overly short skirt, or racy clothing, or wild hair colours, being too loud on a night out, or from people looking over your shoulder when you are on Fab swingers on your phone in a public place? People will pay you attention for a million reasons, adding a necklace to your neck-line/wrist won't add much that they don't already look at you for.
But as most vanilla people wouldn't know what the sign meant, they really wouldn't be asking about it. And if you told them, then that is really up to the judgement of the individual to share it's meaning or not.
I have shared it's meaning on a number of occasions and had an excellent response from couples and singles.
Surely, we are all in the business of promoting swinging as a lifestyle, not an exclusive club of us and them. Before thinking about how to tear thing s down, perhaps think about how we can build them up.

2017 pampas grass sales where down, supposedly due to the association with swinging

Interesting, the keeper's house at London zoo has 2 plastic flamingoes outside... |

Whether people want to "advertise" their lifestyle or not is up to each person but why do so many forum members only want to argue or look down on others queries?
Saying there is or isn't any official symbols is pointless. If you want it to mean something & others are aware then great.
No-one owns swinging so why try so hard to gatekeep? |
