Been on here 4 months n met no one! Not even what I’d call a conversation….

Yea makes sense to me! I just feel like some people not like me checking out their profile or get the wrong idea (if it’s a guy) |

Go into ninja mode. You won't show up unless they are platinum supporters.
You are young, comparatively, and a lot of of people will be put off by that. Your profile needs to stand out, what you have to offer, what you are looking for, do you want to try new things.
Also, join in the forums, try some socials or clubs. Sometimes it's better face to face.
