Agree 100%, used to work there in the 2000's, loved it. Went back last year, it was filthy and a real rip off.

The centre of Amsterdam is indeed a shit hole!
Work trip for about three weeks so wandered about quite a bit, was openly offered class A by street sellers, they’re everywhere; the days of a bit of in a cafe are long gone!
Outskirts of the city are beautifully quiet and clean, a lot of open green space to relax but avoid the centre, it’s a tourist trap and doesn’t feel particularly safe!
Bar Sameplace is superb, plenty of reviews on here so won’t repeat what others have said  |
