I know it's probably been done to death but I see a lot of people on here will only meet people who show at least one verification and I do understand why... what is the best way to get a genuine verification..?

Mate, don't worry about veris. Just be proactive and use your profile as means to enjoy yourself. Meeting people is a headache. A migraine actually so look for parties on here and try to be in the mix. Veris will not make your life easier. Team up or couple up is the best route.

The verification system on this site can be easily faked, a verification doesn’t prove that a meet happened it just proves that a profile has written on another profile saying that they’ve met, that can happen whether a meet actually occurred or not. I’m not saying that all verifications are fake but because they can be so easily faked they’re pointless.

Imagine if a £5 note was just a piece of normal paper with ‘this is a £5 note’ written on it in arial font. There would be official £5 notes produced by the royal mint but they would be so easy to fake by just printing them yourself that they would all be completely worthless.

The dictionary definition of verification is ‘the process of establishing the truth, accuracy, or validity of something.’ but if I was ‘verified’ I’d be able to post a ‘verification’ on any profile saying that we’ve met even if we hadn’t, so how is that establishing the truth? It’s wrong to call something a verification when it can be easily faked and doesn’t require any proof.

Go to an organised social or attending a club, be a part of the swinging scene it’s actually very friendly and easy to get verified.

Why it’s always best to look at who’s verified them. Well verified profiles and event organisers don’t really have the need to give out fake ones

Yeah, that’s my point, it’s called a verification but we have to check who’s verified them to see if we think they’re genuine verifications or not. It can’t be a verification if we have to check whether we think it’s real, we have to verify the verifications which is a nonsense.

So do you think it doesn’t happen as no one has the need to do it? Do you think that people only break the rules or do something wrong because they need to?

OP there's no need to worry about 'fake' verifications. Sure some people have fake veri's. Some people can't get any all!

Anyone who has been on here long enough knows how to spot them.

The verification system works veri well.

Best of luck OP.

How does the verification system work well if you need to have been on here long enough to spot which ones are fake and which ones are real? Why don’t you help OP, and everyone else who hasn’t been on here long enough to know, by telling us how you spot the fake ones?

I really don’t see how a verification system can be described as working well when it can be so easily faked and requires the people it’s meant to assist to have enough experience to spot which are fake and which aren’t.

The whole point of the verification system is to help people determine who’s real and genuine so it’s a pointless system when users have to determine which verifications are real and genuine to be able to determine which profiles are real and genuine.

So are you saying it’s impossible to write a fake verification that isn’t obviously fake?

‘Met up with Obi Haive yesterday for a coffee and a chat, really enjoyed his company and we’ve already made plans to meet again soon.’ Would you easily spot that as a fake verification if you read it whilst following the trail?

It’s easy to spot the fake ones that are obviously fake but it’s not easy to spot the fake ones that appear to be real. Similarly, it’s easy to spot the fake profiles that are obviously fake but not easy to spot the fake profiles that appear to be real. Again, the verification system is pointless if you’re relying on the fake verifications being easy to spot and no one being able to do a convincing fake.

Also, some people aren’t very good at being able to tell when something’s dubious, when I’ve had calls from scammers in the past I’ve known straight away that they’re scammers but plenty of people aren’t able to tell, otherwise there wouldn’t be any scammers if everyone was able to easily spot a scammer. It’s not their fault and I’m not criticising them in any way, I’m just saying it’s not easy for them to differentiate between who’s real and who’s fake. So for those people the verification system is pointless as they won’t be able to spot the dubious verifications.

So for the verification system to work very well it requires the users to have enough experience and the ability to be able to spot the fake verifications and for the fake verifications to be obviously dubious and not very convincing.

You can claim it's a flawed system as much as you like. It works.

It's not about what a veri says, but who left it. Follow that trail and you'll see a pattern. Usually a whole line of profiles with one veri, from another with the same, or from hidden profiles.

Anyhoo.

The majority of people are smart enough that if they're unsure about one then they'll either just move on to a profile they're happy with or do something wild and crazy like ask for a phone or cam chat.

Everyone started out the same. Unverified. Yet they go on to meet people, get verified and live happy lives on site.

Even some single men.

How can you say the system works and then straight away explain how to spot the fake verifications, if the system worked there would be no need to follow a trail. Again, yes it’s easy to spot the fakes that follow those obviously dubious patterns but not all fakes will follow that pattern. It seems like you think that the only fake verifications are the ones that you can spot, but you can’t spot them all. Just like with everything else, there are bad fakes and good fakes, just because you can’t tell that the good fakes are fake it doesn’t mean they’re not fake.

The verification system that you claim works so well is meant to be proof that the verified profile is real and genuine, so for it to work well there shouldn’t be any doubt that a verified profile is real, but you say that if someone isn’t sure then they can move onto another profile or ask for a phone or video call. So you’re saying that the verification system doesn’t tell users whether a profile is real or not….so it’s a verification system that works well but doesn’t verify if a profile is real and users will need to use another method to verify the verification.

Honestly? I can't be arsed to argue anymore.

The system works, combined with common sense.

If you're lacking the latter then the former is of no use at all.

But hey. What do I know. Its not like I have any veris, eh. "

You’re right, a verification system that only works for people with common sense is of no use at all, that’s exactly what I’ve been trying to say. It’s too easy to fake and not everyone can spot the fakes so as a verification system it’s of no use at all.

No need to argue any more as we are both in agreement.

"OP there's no need to worry about 'fake' verifications.

Follow the trail. Takes seconds.

It's easy to spot dubious ones from obviously real ones in a heartbeat.

Dubious logic all round.

The verification systems works.

The only people who give out about it are the ones that can't get any.

What’s dubious about my logic? What have i said that isn’t true?"

There's absolutely no point in continuing this discussion with you.

It won't make any difference and the rest of us will carry on writing and receiving verifications with the people we meet and not give your ridiculous arguments a second thought

"The verification system on this site can be easily faked, a verification doesn’t prove that a meet happened it just proves that a profile has written on another profile saying that they’ve met, that can happen whether a meet actually occurred or not.

Do you think that people only break the rules or do something wrong because they need to?"

It’s not just that. If you’re regularly active, you recognise usernames: if I can see a veri from a mate of mine, I’ll judge it completely differently to a veri from that lass I can’t stand. It’s part of the whole community thing.

Stoke area

Check out the meets section and see if anyone is suggesting a social in your area or put up a meet. Just a cafe or pub for a chat. Try putting it as your status.

In the past I've met a few gents at coffee shops just to confirm that they are real and polite, friendly etc.

Otherwise go on cam or go to an organised social or a club.

You do have to put effort in to get started.

Personally I don't see the point of Veris for single guys. As a female is unlikely gonna impersonate a male.

For females and couples it's just a way to help whittle out the fake profiles run by males. It's not 100%, but helps somewhat.

The fakes usually have a veri by webcam from 2 years ago.

It does show that they might actually turn up. As opposed to the ones that get all excited, have a wank and then can't be bothered. Or just lack the bottle.

Just checked through the terms of the website and it doesn’t state that it’s against the rules to give someone a verification saying that you’ve met them without actually meeting them. So not only is the verification system incredibly easy to fake it’s also not against the rules of the website to provide a fake verification.

If you've ever tried to verify someone you're greeted with this warning message.

"Please only verify profiles as genuine when you have met in person or seen on cam. You also need to provide a comment giving more information on your verification.

If you leave a fake verification you will be banned."

So yes. It is in the site rules that you have to meet someone in person to leave them a meet veri.

So why haven’t all the people been banned who’ve left the fake verifications that you say are simple to spot by anyone with any common sense?

How are the moderators able to know for definite that someone’s trying to leave a fake verification? Let’s say someone tries to give me a verification but we have never met, so I report that person to the moderators, how do they know I’m telling the truth? Maybe it was a bad meet and I’m a horrible, spiteful person so I say that it’s a fake verification because I want to get the person banned….surely the mods have to be absolutely sure that the meet didn’t happen before they can ban the person sending the verification but it’s only ever going to be a case of one person’s word against the other person’s, and we all know that it’s impossible to say for sure who’s telling the truth in that situation.

The thing is Nick, it doesn't matter. Yes some people have fake verifications, usually because they have set up multiple accounts. It's a miniscule number of the total users.

No one cares. It happens and those with fake veri's do what they do and the rest of the site carries on regardless.

Just because there's a few accounts with fake veri's doesn't mean the whole system is invalidated.

If we followed that logic we'd have to shut down half the services on the internet and all of social media.

Why do you have such a bee in your bonnet about this? Why does it matter to you so much to make a point that can't stand up?

Is it because it the amount of verifications you have?

The thing is it does matter, you say that it’s a minuscule amount that are fake but I do have common sense and I am able to tell which verifications are fake and from what I’ve seen there are a lot of fake ones, there are also a lot of fake profiles, there are also a lot of people posting about fake realities….do you think that it doesn’t matter if someone who isn’t able to spot a fake verification agrees to meet someone on the basis that it’s safe to meet them as they have verifications but those verifications are fake? It’s no exaggeration to say that meeting people off the internet is dangerous, people have been killed doing it, if someone wanted to entice someone to meet them then with the intention of harming them in some way then one of the ways they’d entice them is by getting fake verifications….so do you still think it doesn’t matter?

The reason I have a ‘bee in my bonnet’ about this isn’t because I don’t have any verifications, it’s because having a verification system that is so easy to fake but so many people say is a reliable system that proves someone is genuine is literally putting people’s lives at risk.

People on this thread are saying it’s a system that works, people say they only meet people who’ve been verified, you’re all giving people false confidence that it’s safe to meet anyone who’s verified when it absolutely isn’t. It’s not a system that can be trusted in any way.

Yes, for some people it’s easy to spot the fakes, but like I said earlier it’s not easy for everyone, it’s those people that you’re putting at risk.

People who endorse the verification system are putting lives at risk.

I've heard it all now.

That'll be my last response in this thread.

OK. I'm gonna close this now.

The verification rules appear whenever anyone goes to leave one, so should be stuck to at all times, especially when it comes to meet in person verifications.

There's plenty of info on the verification system in the site FAQ's.
